They should remain on the alert against these, though they need not fear them, because God is on their side, as pointed out in the next verse.

وَیَقُوۡلُ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَہٰٓؤُلَآءِ الَّذِیۡنَ اَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰہِ جَہۡدَ اَیۡمٰنِہِمۡ ۙ اِنَّہُمۡ لَمَعَکُمۡ ۚ حَبِطَتۡ اَعۡمٰلُہُمۡ فَاَصۡبَحُوۡا خٰسِرِیۡنَ
اردو میں انڈائرکٹ(indirect) طریق پر کلام نہیں ہوتا۔ اس لئے قرآنی الفاظ اِنَّھُمْ لَمَعَکُمْ کا ہم نے اردو محاورہ کے مطابق (جوڈائرکٹ (direct) طریق کلام اختیار کرتا ہے) یہ ترجمہ کر دیا ہے کہ ’’ہم کلی طور پر تمہارے ساتھ ہیں۔‘‘

These evil associates will be made to share the punishment with those whom they beguiled and deceived. The words, 'what was before them and what was behind them,' may mean, the deeds which they did in consequence of association with their bad companions and those they did in imitation of the bad deeds of their forefathers.
