قرآن مجید میں زَفِیْرٌ کا لفظ ہے جس کے معنے مفرداتؔ نے مصیبت کے لکھے ہیں۔ مطلب یہ کہ اس کی تیز آواز سے سمجھ جائیں گے کہ جہنم کا عذاب سخت ہوگا۔

This and the next verse mean that the punishment will be overwhelming and all-embracing and in order to add to the bitterness of the disbelievers’ pain and sense of humiliation and to make it complete and thorough, all their organs will be made to feel it—the organs of sight and hearing—and being in great distress they will wish that death should make a speedy end of them.
