English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Then, when they forgot that with which they had been admonished, We opened unto them the gates of all things, until, when they became exultant at what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and lo! they were plunged into despair.

پس جب وہ اسے بھول گئے جو انہیں بشدت یاد دلایا گیا تھا تو ہم نے ان پر ہرچیز کے دروازے کھول دیئے۔ یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اُس پر اِترانے لگے جو اُن کو دیا گیا تو ہم نے اچانک انہیں پکڑ لیا تو وہ یکدم سخت مایوس ہوگئے۔

Puis, lorsqu’ils avaient oublié ce avec quoi Nous les avions admonestés, Nous leur ouvrîmes les portes de toutes choses et lorsqu’ils éprouvèrent une vive joie de ce qui leur était donné, Nous les avons saisis brusquement et les voilà désespérés !

اور پھر جب وہ اس (امر) کو بھول گئے جو انہیں یاد دلایا جاتا تھا تو ہم نے ان پر ہر اک چیز کے دروازے کھول دئیے۔ یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اس پر خوش ہو گئے جو انہیں دیا گیا تھا تو ہم نے انہیں اچانک[2] عذاب میں مبتلا کر دیا جس پر وہ یکدم ناامید ہو گئے۔
قرآن کریم میں اَخَذْنٰـھُمْ کے الفاظ ہیں۔ اور اَخَذَہٗ کے معنے سزا دینے کے بھی ہوتے ہیں۔ (اقرب)

English - Five Volume Translation
Then, when [c]they forgot that with which they had been admonished, We opened unto them the gates of all things, until, when they became exultant at what they were given, [d]We seized them suddenly, and lo! they were plunged in despair.[791]

Commentary:
When disbelievers became hardened and treated Divine admonition as a thing forgotten, God let them wander in their blind transgression. The words, We opened unto them the gates of all things, signify that God let them stray away and advance further and further into the evil deeds in which they were engaged. Sometimes the afflictions were removed from them for a time and they rejoiced to think that they were right in thinking that the afflictions were not due to their sins. Then the punishment of God suddenly seized them, and they gave themselves up to despair. Thus, there are two kinds of afflictions that visit disbelieving people in the days of Divine Messengers: (1) temporary afflictions that come as warnings and then pass away; (2) general disaster which finally overtakes and destroys the wicked.

پھر جب انہوں نے اس نصیحت کو، جو انہیں کی گئی تھی، بھلا دیا تو ہم نے ہر طرح کی خوشحالیوں کے دروازے ان کے لیے کھول دیے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اُن بخششوں میں جو انہیں عطا کی گئی تھیں خوب مگن ہوگئے تو اچانک ہم نے انہیں پکڑ لیا اور اب حال یہ تھا کہ وہ ہر خیر سے مایوس تھے

So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.

پھر جب وہ اس نصیحت کو بھول گئے جو ان کو کی گئی تھی تو ہم نے ان پر ہر چیز کے دروازے کھول دیئے یہاں تک کہ جب وہ ان چیزوں پر خوش ہو گئےجو انہیں دی گئیں تھیں ہم نے انہیں اچانک پکڑ لیا وہ اس وقت نا امید ہوکر کر رہ گئے

Commentary:

Important Words:
یقنطون (are in despair) is formed from قنط which means, he despaired. قانط which is active participle from this root means, one who despairs of God’s mercy. The Arabs say قنط ماءہ عنا i.e. he withheld or debarred his water from us. قنوط (infinitive noun) means, complete despair (Lane & Aqrab).

جب ہم لوگوں کو رحمت کا ذائقہ چکھاتے ہیں تو وہ اس پر پھول جاتے ہیں، اور جب ان کے اپنے کیے کرتوتوں سے ان پر کوئی مصیبت آتی ہے تو یکایک وہ مایوس ہونے لگتے ہیں
