English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
‘Offer no excuse. You have certainly disbelieved after your believing. If We forgive a party from among you, a party shall We punish, for they have been guilty.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
کوئی عذر پیش نہ کرو۔ یقیناً تم اپنے ایمان لانے کے بعد کافر ہو چکے ہو۔ اگر ہم تم میں سے کسی ایک گروہ سے درگزر کریں تو کسی دوسرے گروہ کو عذاب بھی دے سکتے ہیں اس لئے کہ وہ یقیناً مجرم ہیں۔

“No os excuséis. Ciertamente dejasteis de creer después de haber creído. Si perdonáramos a un grupo de vosotros, castigaremos a otro grupo, porque han sido culpables”.

اب کوئی عذر نہ کرو۔ تم نے ایمان لاکر کفر کیا (پس اس کی سزا پاؤ) اگر ہم تم میں سے ایک گروہ کو معاف کر دیں اور ایک دوسرے گروہ کو عذاب دے دیں اس لئے کہ وہ مجرم تھے (تو یہ ہمارا کام ہے)

Commentary:
The words, You have certainly disbelieved after your believing, mean, "You expressed belief in God and His Messenger but practically you remained disbelievers;" or "You possessed some light of faith in you in the beginning but you allowed that light to become gradually extinguished."
The verse also hints that the hypocrites may yet repent and their repentance would be accepted; and history tells us that some of the hypocrites did actually repent and became sincere Muslims.

اب عذرات نہ تراشو، تم نے ایمان لانے کے بعد کفر کیا ہے، اگر ہم نے تم میں سے ایک گروہ کو معاف کر بھی دیا تو دوسرے گروہ کو تو ہم ضرور سزا دیں گے کیونکہ وہ مجرم ہے"

تو ان سے کہہ دے مجھے بتاؤ تو سہی اگر یہ (قرآن) اللہ کی طرف سے ہو اور تم اس کا انکار کر دو۔ تو اس شخص سے جو حق سے بہت دور بھاگ جائے کون زیادہ گمراہ ہوگا؟

Commentary:
The Surah had begun with the subject of the Quranic revelation and it has ended on the same theme. The disbelievers are here warned that if the Quran is from Allah, as it certainly is, then they incur a grave responsibility by rejecting it.

اے نبیؐ، اِن سے کہو، کبھی تم نے یہ بھی سوچا کہ اگر واقعی یہ قرآن خدا ہی کی طرف سے ہوا اور تم اِس کا انکار کرتے رہے تو اُس شخص سے بڑھ کر بھٹکا ہوا اور کون ہوگا جو اِس کی مخالفت میں دور تک نکل گیا ہو؟
