ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِهِمْ ۖ إِنْ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّا ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى وَلَدْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَزُورًا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Those among you who put away their wives by calling them mothers — they do not become their mothers; their mothers are only those who gave them birth; and they certainly utter words that are manifestly evil and untrue; but surely Allah is the Effacer of sins, Most Forgiving.

تم میں سے جو لوگ اپنی بیویوں کو ماں کہہ دیتے ہیں ، وہ ان کی مائیں نہیں ہو سکتیں، ان کی مائیں تو وہی ہیں جنہوں نے ان کو جنم دیا۔ اور یقیناً وہ ایک سخت ناپسندیدہ اور جھوٹی بات کہتے ہیں۔ اور اللہ یقیناً بہت درگزر کرنے والا (اور) بہت بخشنے والا ہے۔

Ceux d’entre vous qui mettent à l’écart leurs épouses en les appelant mères – elles ne deviennent pas leurs mères ; seule est leur mère celle qui leur a donné naissance ; et assurément ils prononcent des mots qui sont blâmables et faux ; mais assurément Allāh est Effaceur de péchés et est Très-Pardonnant.

Die unter euch, die ihre Frauen Mütter nennen – sie werden nicht ihre Mütter; ihre Mütter sind einzig jene, die sie geboren haben; und sie äußern da nur Worte, die unziemlich und unwahr sind; doch wahrlich, Allah ist Tilger der Sünden, allverzeihend.

Quelli tra voi che mettono da parte le mogli chiamandole madri - per questo esse non diventano loro madri. Sono loro madri solo quelle che li hanno partoriti. Certamente, costoro dicono parole che sono chiaramente cattive e false. Ma, per certo, Allah è Colui che cancella i peccati, che sommamente perdona.

Aquellos de entre vosotros que repudian a sus mujeres llamándolas madres, no por ello se convierten en sus madres; sus madres sólo son quienes les dieron a luz; y en verdad profieren palabras claramente perversas y falsas; pero ciertamente Al-lah es el Absolvedor de los pecados, el Sumo Indulgente.

(سو یاد رکھو کہ) تم میں سے جو لوگ اپنی بیویوں کو ماں کہہ بیٹھیں تو اس کہنے سے وہ [1]ان کی مائیں نہیں ہو جاتیں‘ ان کی مائیں وہی ہیں جنہوں نے ان کو جنا ہے اور (جو کچھ وہ غلطی سے کہہ بیٹھتے ہیں ان کی نسبت یہی کہا جا سکتا ہے کہ) وہ ایک ناپسندیدہ اور جھوٹ بات کہتے ہیں اور اللہ یقیناً بہت معاف کرنے والا (اور) بہت بخشنے والا ہے۔
سورۂ احزاب میں کہا گیا تھا کہ نبی کی بیویاں مومنوں کی مائیں ہیں۔ اب یہ کہا گیا ہے کہ کوئی اپنی بیوی کو ماں کہہ بیٹھے تو وہ ماں نہیں ہو جاتی۔ اس میں اختلاف نہیں۔ کیونکہ کسی انسان کے کہنے سے کوئی عورت ماں نہیں ہو سکتی۔ لیکن اگر خداتعالیٰ کسی عورت کو ماں قرار دے تو چونکہ حقوق کا قائم کرنے والا وہی ہے اس کے حکم کے ماتحت ایک عورت ماں بن سکتی ہے پھر یہ بھی یاد رکھنا چاہیے کہ یہ منفی حکم ہے کسی کے حقوق کو اس میں تلف نہیں کیا گیا۔ نہ کسی جان پر کوئی زائد حق ڈالے گئے ہیں۔

Those among you who put away their wives by calling them mothers—they do not thereby become their mothers; their mothers are only those who gave them birth. They certainly utter words that are manifestly evil and untrue; but, surely, Allah is the Effacer of sins, Most Forgiving.

Commentary:
Zihar or calling ones wife "mother" has been declared here a heinous sin. For a somewhat detailed note see 33:5.
The words لعفو غفور mean that God in His great mercy has made allowance for man’s weakness and that He is always ready to forgive his lapses, provided he comes to God with a penitent heart and makes amends.
The verse has redeemed a right which through a cruel custom was denied to women and thus has raised them to the status to which they were entitled.

تم میں سے جو لوگ اپنی بیویوں سے ظہار کرتے ہیں ان کی بیویاں ان کی مائیں نہیں ہیں، ان کی مائیں تو وہی ہیں جنہوں نے ان کو جنا ہے یہ لوگ ایک سخت ناپسندیدہ اور جھوٹی بات کہتے ہیں، اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اللہ بڑا معاف کرنے والا اور درگزر فرمانے والا ہے

Those who pronounce thihar among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving.

جو لوگ تم میں سے اپنی عورتوں سے ظہار کرتے ہیں وہ ان کی مائیں نہیں ہو جاتیں ان کی مائیں تو وہی ہیں جنہوں نے انہیں جنا ہے اور بےشک انہوں نے ایک بیہودہ اور جھوٹی بات منہ سے نکالی ہے اور بے شک الله معاف کرنے والا بخشنے والا ہے

سورۂ احزاب میں کہا گیا تھا کہ نبی کی بیویاں مومنوں کی مائیں ہیں۔ اب یہ کہا گیا ہے کہ کوئی اپنی بیوی کو ماں کہہ بیٹھے تو وہ ماں نہیں ہو جاتی۔ اس میں اختلاف نہیں۔ کیونکہ کسی انسان کے کہنے سے کوئی عورت ماں نہیں ہو سکتی۔ لیکن اگر خداتعالیٰ کسی عورت کو ماں قرار دے تو چونکہ حقوق کا قائم کرنے والا وہی ہے اس کے حکم کے ماتحت ایک عورت ماں بن سکتی ہے پھر یہ بھی یاد رکھنا چاہیے کہ یہ منفی حکم ہے کسی کے حقوق کو اس میں تلف نہیں کیا گیا۔ نہ کسی جان پر کوئی زائد حق ڈالے گئے ہیں۔

Those of you who say, regarding their wives, 'Be as my mother's back,' they are not truly their mothers; their mothers are only those who gave them birth, and they are surely saying a dishonourable saying, and a falsehood. Yet surely God is All-pardoning, All-forgiving.

Those among you who divorce their wives by declaring them to be their mothers, such are not their mothers; none are their mothers except those who gave birth to them. Indeed what they say is highly contemptible and false. Verily Allah is Most Pardoning, Most Forgiving.

Those of you who divorce your wives by calling them 'mothers,' cannot (make them) their mothers. Their mothers are only those who gave birth to them. They surely utter what is unseemly and a lie. But God is forbearing and forgiving.

Commentary:
