وَرَبُّکَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ ذُو الرَّحۡمَۃِ ۖ لَوۡ یُؤَاخِذُہُمۡ بِمَا کَسَبُوۡا لَعَجَّلَ لَہُمُ الۡعَذَابَ ۚ بَل لَّہُمۡ مَّوۡعِدٌ لَّنۡ یَّجِدُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِہٖ مَوۡئِلًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And thy Lord is Most Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to seize them for what they have earned, then surely He would have hastened the punishment for them. But they have an appointed time from which they will find no refuge.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور تیرا ربّ بہت بخشنے والا اور بڑی رحمت والا ہے۔ اگر وہ ان کا مؤاخذہ کرے اس پر جو وہ کَسَب کرتے ہیں تو ان پر جلد تر عذاب لے آئے لیکن ان کے لئے ایک وقت مقرر ہے جس سے بچ نکلنے کی وہ کوئی راہ نہیں پائیں گے۔

French

Et ton Seigneur est le Très-Pardonnant, le Seigneur de la miséricorde. S’Il les saisissait pour ce qu’ils ont mérité, alors Il hâterait sûrement le châtiment pour eux. Mais ils ont un temps déterminé contre lequel ils ne trouveront aucun refuge.

Dein Herr aber ist der Vergebungsreiche, voll der Barmherzigkeit. Wollte Er sie zur Rechenschaft ziehen für das, was sie verdienen, dann würde Er gewiss ihre Bestrafung beschleunigen. Allein sie haben eine festgesetzte Frist, gegen die sie keine Zuflucht finden werden.

Mas tu Señor es el Sumo Indulgente, lleno de Misericordia. Si tuviera que atraparlos por lo que cometieron, ciertamente habría apresurado su castigo. Pero tienen un plazo fijado contra el que no encontrarán refugio alguno.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور تیرا رب بہت ہی بخشنے والا (اور بہت ہی) رحمت کرنے والا ہے۔ اگر وہ ان کے (برے) اعمال کی وجہ سے انہیں ہلاک کرنا چاہتا تو وہ ان پر فوراً عذاب نازل کر دیتا۔ (مگر وہ ایسا نہیں کرتا) بلکہ ان کے لئے ایک میعاد (مقرر) ہے جس سے ورے (یعنی پیشتر اس کے وہ عذاب کو بھگت لیں) وہ ہرگز کوئی جائے پناہ نہ پائیں گے۔

Important Words:

موئلا (refuge) is derived from وال. They say وال فلانا i.e. he made such a one his refuge. وال الرجل منه means, the man sought refuge from him. وال الیه means, he sought refuge with him or fled to him for refuge or protection. وال الی اللّٰه means, he returned to God. موئلا means, a place of refuge or simply refuge (Aqrab).

Commentary:

God does not destroy a sinful people forthwith. It is against His Law. He first grants them respite and warns them of the impending punishment by raising a Prophet among them who invites them to truth and urges them to give up iniquitous ways. It is only when they persist in transgression that destructive punishment comes upon them and then they can find no refuge from it.

تیرا رب بڑا درگزر کرنے والا اور رحیم ہے وہ ان کے کرتوتوں پر انہیں پکڑنا چاہتا تو جلدی ہی عذاب بھیج دیتا مگر ان کے لیے وعدے کا ایک وقت مقرر ہے اور اس سے بچ کر بھاگ نکلنے کی یہ کوئی راہ نہ پائیں گے

English - Sahih

And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.

اور تیرا رب بڑا بخنشے والا رحمت والا ہے اگر ان کے کیے پر انہیں پکڑنا چاہتا تو فوراً ہی عذاب بھیج دیتا بلکہ ان کے لیے ایک معیاد مقرر ہے اس کے سوا کوئی پناہ کی جگہ نہیں پائیں گے

And your Lord (is) the Most Forgiving, Owner (of) the Mercy. If He were to seize them for what they have earned, surely, He (would) have hastened for them the punishment. But for them (is) an appointment, never they will find other than it an escape.

But thy Lord is the All-forgiving, full of mercy. If He should take them to task for that they have earned, He would hasten for them the chastisement; but they have a tryst, from which they will find no escape.

Your Lord is All-Forgiving, full of mercy. Had He wished to take them to task for their doings, He would have hastened in sending His scourge upon them. But He has set for them a time-limit which they cannot evade.
