اَلَّذِیۡنَ ضَلَّ سَعۡیُہُمۡ فِی الۡحَیٰوۃِ الدُّنۡیَا وَہُمۡ یَحۡسَبُوۡنَ اَنَّہُمۡ یُحۡسِنُوۡنَ صُنۡعًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘Those whose labour is all lost in search after things pertaining to the life of this world, and they think that they are doing good works.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

جن کی تمام تر کوششیں دنیوی زندگی کی طلب میں گم ہوگئیں اور وہ گمان کرتے ہیں کہ وہ صنعت کاری میں کمال دکھا رہے ہیں۔

Ceux dont les efforts sont complètement perdus à la poursuite de choses se rapportant à la vie de ce monde, et qui s’imaginent malgré tout qu’ils font de bonnes œuvres. »

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(یہ وہ لوگ ہیں) جن کی (تمام تر) کوشش اس ورلی زندگی میں ہی غائب ہو گئی ہے اور (اس کے ساتھ) وہ (یہ بھی) سمجھتے ہیں کہ وہ اچھا کام کر رہے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

‘Those whose labour is all lost in pursuit of the life of this world,[1735] and yet they imagine that they are doing good works.’

These people look upon the acquisition of physical comforts and worldly gains as the sole aim and object of their life. They have no place for God in their hearts.

English - Five Volume Translation

[a]Those whose labour is all lost in search after things pertaining to the life of this world, and they think that they are doing good works.’[2140]

11:22.

Commentary:

The verse means to say that these people look upon the acquisition of material comforts and worldly benefits and upon making new inventions and discoveries to add to those comforts as the sole aim and object of their life. They have no place for God in their hearts.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

وہ کہ دنیا کی زندگی میں جن کی ساری سعی و جہد راہِ راست سے بھٹکی رہی اور وہ سمجھتے رہے کہ وہ سب کچھ ٹھیک کر رہے ہیں

English - Sahih

[They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work."
