وَکَاَیِّنۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡیَۃٍ اَمۡلَیۡتُ لَہَا وَہِیَ ظَالِمَۃٌ ثُمَّ اَخَذۡتُہَا وَاِلَیَّ الۡمَصِیۡرُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And how many a city there is to which I gave respite, while it was given to wrongdoing. Then I seized it, and unto Me is the return.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جنہیں میں نے مہلت دی جبکہ وہ ظالم تھیں۔ پھر میں نے اُن کو پکڑ لیا۔ اور میری ہی طرف لوٹنا ہے۔

Et combien de villes auxquelles J’ai accordé du répit, bien qu’elles fussent pleines d’iniquités. Ensuite, Je les ai saisies et vers Moi est le retour.

Und manch einer Stadt gab Ich Aufschub, ob sie gleich des Frevels voll war. Zuletzt aber erfasste Ich sie, und zu Mir ist die Heimkehr.

有许多城镇, 居民多行不义, (起初) 我给他们 (惩罚的) 缓期, 后来惩治了他们。(人们啊! 所有的人都) 将归向我这里来。

E a quante città ho accordato una tregua, mentre si davano al male. Poi le colpii. E a Me è il ritorno di ogni cosa.

¡A cuántas ciudades les concedí un respiro, mientras estaban entregadas a la iniquidad! Después caí sobre ellas, pues a Mí es el retorno.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جن کو (پہلے تو) میں نے مہلت دی حالانکہ وہ ظلم کر رہی تھیں۔ پھر میں نے ان کو پکڑ لیا اور میری ہی طرف سب نے لوٹ کر آنا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And how many a city I have respited, while it was given to wrongdoing. Then I seized it, and unto Me is the return.

English - Five Volume Translation

And how many a city there is to which I gave respite, while it was given to wrongdoing. Then I seized it, and unto Me is the return.[2478]

Commentary:

The verse is of general application but it specially alludes to the punishment in store for the peoples mentioned in the preceding verses.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جو ظالم تھیں، میں نے ان کو پہلے مہلت دی، پھر پکڑ لیا اور سب کو واپس تو میرے پاس ہی آنا ہے

English - Sahih

And for how many a city did I prolong enjoyment while it was committing wrong. Then I seized it, and to Me is the [final] destination.

اور کتنی بستیوں کو میں نے مہلت دی حالانکہ وہ ظالم تھیں پھر میں نے انہیں پکڑا اور میری طرف ہی پھر کر آنا ہے

How many towns did I respite at first though they were steeped in iniquity, and then I seized them! To Me are all destined to return.
