25:61

وَاِذَا قِیۡلَ لَہُمُ اسۡجُدُوۡا لِلرَّحۡمٰنِ قَالُوۡا وَمَا الرَّحۡمٰنُ اَنَسۡجُدُ لِمَا تَاۡمُرُنَا وَزَادَہُمۡ نُفُوۡرًا ۩

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when it is said to them, ‘Submit to the Gracious God,’ they say, ‘And who is the Gracious God? Shall we submit to whatever thou biddest us?’ And it increases their aversion.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور جب انہیں کہا جاتا ہے کہ رحمان کے حضور سجدہ کرو تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ رحمان ہے کیا چیز؟ کیا ہم اسے سجدہ کریں جس کا تُو ہمیں حکم دیتا ہے اور ان کو اس (بات) نے نفرت میں اور بھی بڑھا دیا۔

French

Et lorsqu’il leur est dit : « Prosternez-vous devant le Dieu Gracieux, » ils disent : « Et qui est le Dieu Gracieux ? Devons-nous nous prosterner devant ce que tu nous commandes ? » Et cela accentue leur aversion.

German

Und wenn zu ihnen gesprochen wird: "Fallet nieder vor dem Gnadenreichen", sagen sie: "Und was ist der Gnadenreiche? Sollen wir niederfallen vor irgendetwas, wem du uns heißest?" Und es vermehrt nur ihren Widerwillen.

Chinese

当有人对他们说: “要向无限博爱者叩头。” 他们说: “无限博爱者是什么? 我们向你所命令我们的那个对象叩头?” 这话更增加他们的憎恶。

Italian

E quando è detto loro: «Sottomettetevi al Dio Clemente», essi replicano: «E chi è il Dio Clemente? Dovremo forse sottometterci a ciò che tu ci ordini?» E la loro avversione aumenta.

Spanish

Mas cuando se les dice: "Someteos al Dios Clemente", responden: "¿Y quién es el Dios Clemente? ¿Debemos acaso someternos a lo que nos ordenas?". Y esto aumenta su extravío.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ رحمن کے سامنے سجدہ میں گر جاؤ‘ تو کہتے ہیں رحمن کیا چیز ہے؟ کیا ہم اس کے آگے سجدہ کریں جس (کے آگے سجدہ کرنے) کا تو حکم دیتا ہے اور یہ بات ان کو نفرت میں اور بھی بڑھا دیتی ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And when it is said to them, ‘Submit to the Gracious God,’ they say, ‘And who is the Gracious God? Shall we submit to whatever thou biddest us?’ And it increases their aversion.

English - Five Volume Translation

And when it is said to them, ‘Submit to the Gracious God,’ they say, ‘And who is the Gracious God? Shall we submit to whatever thou biddest us?’ And it increases their aversion.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اِن لوگوں سے جب کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس رحمان کو سجدہ کرو تو کہتے ہیں "رحمان کیا ہوتا ہے؟ کیا بس جسے تو کہہ دے اسی کو ہم سجدہ کرتے پھریں؟" یہ دعوت ان کی نفرت میں الٹا اور اضافہ کر دیتی ہے

English - Sahih

And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion.

اورجب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ رحمنٰ کو سجدہ کرو توکہتے ہیں رحمنٰ کیا ہے کیا ہم اسے سجدہ کریں جس کے لیے تو کہہ دے اور اس سے انہیں اور زیادہ نفرت ہوتی ہے

English - Talal Itani

And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Gracious." They say, "And what (is) the Most Gracious? Should we prostrate to what you order us?" And it increases them (in) aversion.

English - Arberry

But when they are told, 'Bow yourselves to the All-merciful,' they say, 'And what is the All-merciful? Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion.

English - Maududi

When it is said to them. "Prostrate yourselves before the Merciful," they retort, "What is the Merciful? Would you have us prostrate ourselves before whomsoever you will?" And this invitation only helps to increase their hatred all the more.

English - Ahmed Ali

When you say to them: "Bow before Ar-Rahman," they say: "What is Ar-Rahman? Should we adore whoever you ask us to?" And their aversion increases further.

When it is said to them, "Prostrate to (Allah) Most Gracious!", they say, "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we prostrate to that which thou commandest us?" And it increases their flight (from the Truth).
