34:42

قَالُوۡا سُبۡحٰنَکَ اَنۡتَ وَلِیُّنَا مِنۡ دُوۡنِہِمۡ ۖ بَلۡ کَانُوۡا یَعۡبُدُوۡنَ الۡجِنَّ ۖ اَکۡثَرُہُمۡ بِہِمۡ مُّؤۡمِنُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

They will say, ‘Holy art Thou. Thou art our Protector against them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinn; it was in them that most of them believed.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

وہ کہیں گے پاک ہے تُو۔ اُن کی بجائے تُو ہمارا دوست ہے۔ بلکہ وہ تو جنوں کی عبادت کیا کرتے تھے (اور) اِن میں سے اکثر اُنہی پر ایمان لانے والے تھے۔

French

Ils diront : « Gloire à Toi ! Tu es notre Protecteur contre eux. Non mais ils adoraient les djinns ; c’est en eux que croyaient la plupart d’entre eux. »

German

Sie werden sprechen: "Preis Dir! Du, nicht sie, bist unser Freund. Nein, sie dienten den Jinn; an sie haben die meisten von ihnen geglaubt."

Chinese

他们 (不信者) 将说: [d]“你是圣洁的。与他们对比之下, 只有你是我们的朋友。” (但事情不是像不信者所将说的那样。) 事实是这样的: “他们常常崇拜精纳; 他们大多数人都是信仰他们的。”

Italian

Essi diranno: «Santo sei Tu. Tu sei il nostro Protettore contro di loro. No, essi hanno adorato i Ğinn; è in essi che la maggior parte di loro credeva.»

Spanish

Responderán: “Santo eres Tú. Eres nuestro Protector contra ellos. No, pero adoraban a los Yinn; en ellos era en quienes creían la mayoría”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

وہ کہیں گے کہ تو پاک ہے۔ ان کو چھوڑ کر فقط تو ہمارا دوست ہے (پس یوں نہیں جس طرح کفار کہیں گے) بلکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ وہ خیالی اور مخفی ہستیوں کی عبادت کرتے تھے اور ان میں سے اکثر ان ہستیوں پر ایمان لاتے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

They will say, [a]‘Holy art Thou. Thou art our Protector against them. Nay, but they worshipped the jinn; it was in them that most of them believed.’

25:19.

They will say, [a]‘Holy art Thou. Thou art our Protector against them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinn; it was in them that most of them believed.’[3164]

Commentary:

The reference in the word jinn is to the proud, wicked and ungodly people who are not the followers of any revealed religion and who have been spoken of in vv. 32, 33 and 34 above. The word may also mean hidden forces of evil, the root جن (janna) meaning, it veiled, concealed or covered (Lane).

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

تو وہ جواب دیں گے کہ "پاک ہے آپ کی ذات، ہمارا تعلق تو آپ سے ہے نہ کہ اِن لوگوں سے دراصل یہ ہماری نہیں بلکہ جنوں کی عبادت کرتے تھے، ان میں سے اکثر انہی پر ایمان لائے ہوئے تھے"

English - Sahih

They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allah], are our benefactor not them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."

وہ عرض کریں گے تو پاک ہے ہماراتو تجھ سے ہی تعلق ہے نہ ان سے بلکہ یہ شیطانوں کی عبادت کرتے تھے ان میں سے اکثر انہیں کے معتقد تھے

English - Talal Itani

They will say, "Glory be to You! You (are) our Protector, not them. Nay, they used (to) worship the jinn, most of them in them (were) believers."

They will reply: “Glory to You! You are our Protector, not they. Nay, they rather used to worship the jinn. Most of them believe in them.”

English - Ahmed Ali

"God forbid!" (they will answer). "You are our protector not they. In fact, they worshipped the devils. Most of them believed in them."

They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns: most of them believed in them."
