35:40
ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ جَعَلَکُمۡ خَلٰٓئِفَ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ۚ فَمَنۡ کَفَرَ فَعَلَیۡہِ کُفۡرُہٗ ۖ وَلَا یَزِیۡدُ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ کُفۡرُہُمۡ عِنۡدَ رَبِّہِمۡ اِلَّا مَقۡتًا ۖ وَّلَا یَزِیۡدُ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ کُفۡرُہُمۡ اِلَّا خَسَارًا
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He it is Who made you vicegerents in the earth. So he who disbelieves, will himself suffer the consequences of his disbelief. And for the disbelievers their disbelief will only increase odium in the sight of their Lord, and their disbelief will increase for the disbelievers nothing but loss.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں زمین میں جانشین بنایا۔ پس جو انکار کرے اُس کا انکار اُسی پر پڑے گا۔ اور کافروں کو ان کا کفر اُن کے ربّ کے نزدیک کسی چیز میں نہیں بڑھاتا سوائے (اس کی) ناراضگی کے اور کافروں کو اُن کا کفر گھاٹے کے سوا اور کسی چیز میں نہیں بڑھاتا۔
French
C’est Lui Qui a fait de vous des successeurs sur la terre. Aussi celui qui refuse de croire, le méfait de sa mécréance retombera sur lui. Et pour les mécréants, leur mécréance ne fera qu’accroître le dégoût d’Allāh à leur égard et leur mécréance ne fera qu’accroître les mécréants en perte.

Er ist es, Der euch zu Statthaltern auf Erden gemacht hat. Wer aber ungläubig ist: auf ihn sein Unglaube! Und den Ungläubigen kann ihr Unglaube nichts als Widerwillen mehren vor ihrem Herrn, und ihr Unglaube kann den Ungläubigen nur den Verlust mehren.

他就是使你们在大地上作为 (前人的) 继承者的。凡是不信的, 他势必遭受自己不信的惩罚。他们的不信只增加他们的养主对他们的恼怒, 他们的不信只增加他们 (自己) 的损失。

Egli è Colui che vi ha fatti vicegerenti sulla terra. Così, chi non crede, soffrirà le conseguenze della propria miscredenza. La loro miscredenza non farà che aumentare l'avversione agli occhi del loro Signore verso i miscredenti, e la loro miscredenza non farà che accrescere il danno dei miscredenti.

Él es Quien os hizo vicarios en la tierra. Por tanto, quien no crea sufrirá él mismo las consecuencias de su incredulidad. Y para los incrédulos, su incredulidad no hará más que aumentar el enojo de Al‑lah; y la falta de fe no hará mas que aumentar la perdición de los no creyentes.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
وہی ہے جس نے تم کو دنیا میں (پہلے لوگوں کا) قائم مقام بنایا۔ پس جو انکار کرے گا اس کے انکار کی سزا اسی پر پڑے گی اور کافروں کا کفر انہیں ان کے رب کی نظر میں صرف خفگی میں ہی بڑھاتا ہے اور کافروں کا کفر ان کو صرف گھاٹے میں ہی بڑھاتا ہے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
He it is Who made you successors in the earth of those who have passed away. So he, who disbelieves, will himself suffer the consequences of his disbelief. Their disbelief will bring the disbelievers no increase in the sight of their Lord except His displeasure, and their disbelief will increase for the disbelievers nothing but loss.
English - Five Volume Translation
He it is Who made you vicegerents in the earth. So he who disbelieves, will himself suffer the consequences of his disbelief. And for the disbelievers their disbelief will only increase odium in the sight of their Lord, and their disbelief will increase for the disbelievers nothing but loss.[3206]
Commentary:
After the advent of the Holy Prophet has been mentioned in v. 38 above, in the present verse the people to whom he preached his Message are warned that God has selected them to be the recipients and bearers of His revelation. He has been very gracious and kind to them for having selected them for the bestowal of His grace, but if they refused to accept His Messenger, great indeed will also be their punishment.

وہی تو ہے جس نے تم کو زمین میں خلیفہ بنایا ہے اب جو کوئی کفر کرتا ہے اس کے کفر کا وبال اُسی پر ہے، اور کافروں کو اُن کا کفر اِس کے سوا کوئی ترقی نہیں دیتا کہ ان کے رب کا غضب اُن پر زیادہ سے زیادہ بھڑکتا چلا جاتا ہے کافروں کے لیے خسارے میں اضافے کے سوا کوئی ترقی نہیں
English - Sahih
It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves - upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss.

وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں زمین میں قائم مقام بنایا پس جو کفر کرے گا اس کے کفر کا وبال اسی پر ہوگا اور کافروں کا کفر ان کے رب کے ہاں ناراضگی کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں زیادہ کرتا

He (is) the One Who made you successors in the earth. And whoever disbelieves, then upon him (is) his disbelief. And not increase the disbelievers their disbelief near their Lord, except (in) hatred; and not increase the disbelievers their disbelief except (in) loss.

English - Arberry
It is He who appointed you viceroys in the earth. So whosoever disbelieves, his unbelief shall be charged against him; their unbelief increases the disbelievers only in hate in God's sight; their unbelief increases the disbelievers only in loss.
English - Maududi
It is He Who made you vicegerents in the earth. So whoever disbelieves will bear the burden of his unbelief. The unbelievers' unbelief adds nothing but Allah's wrath against them. The unbelievers' unbelief adds nothing but their own loss.
English - Ahmed Ali
He is the one who made you trustees on the earth. So he who disbelieves, will bear the consequence of his unbelief. but their unbelief will only increase disgust for unbelievers in the sight of their Lord; and their unbelief will only lead the unbelievers to greater loss.

He it is That has made you inheritors in the earth: if, then, any do reject (Allah), their rejection (works) against themselves: their rejection but adds to the odium for the Unbelievers in the sight of their Lord: their rejection but adds to (their own) undoing.

Commentary:
