قَدۡ قَالَہَا الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ فَمَاۤ اَغۡنٰی عَنۡہُمۡ مَّا کَانُوۡا یَکۡسِبُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Those who were before them said the same thing, yet all that they had earned availed them not;

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یقیناً ان لوگوں نے جو اُن سے پہلے تھے یہی بات کہی تھی۔ پس جو کسب وہ کرتے تھے ان کے کسی کام نہ آسکا۔

French

Ceux qui les ont devancés disaient la même chose ; cependant tout ce qu’ils avaient acquis ne leur servit à rien ;

German

Die vor ihnen waren, sprachen auch schon so, doch all das, was sie erworben, nützte ihnen nichts;

他们之前的人曾说了同样的话, 但是他们往常所做的一切对他们都没有用处。

Quelli che erano venuti prima di loro erano soliti dire la stessa cosa, eppure tutto quello che si erano guadagnati non servì loro a nulla.

Quienes existieron antes que ellos dijeron lo mismo, y sin embargo todo lo que habían conseguido no les sirvió de nada;

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یہی (بات) ان سے پہلے لوگ بھی کہہ چکے ہیں۔ پھر بھی اُن کے اعمال اُن کے کام نہ آئے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Those who were before them said the same thing, yet all that they had earned availed them not.

Those who were before them said the same thing, yet all that they had earned availed them not;[3473]

Commentary:

The verse means to say that the attitude of conceit and self-praise to which reference has been made in the previous verse has also proved the undoing of many a people in the past.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

یہی بات ان سے پہلے گزرے ہوئے لوگ بھی کہہ چکے ہیں، مگر جو کچھ وہ کماتے تھے وہ ان کے کسی کام نہ آیا

Those before them had already said it, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.

بے شک یہی بات وہ لوگ کہہ چکے ہیں جو ان سے پہلے تھے پس ان کے نہ کام آیا جو کچھ وہ کماتے رہے
