English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

41:18

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ فَٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْعَمَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَٰعِقَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to guidance, so the calamity of a humiliating punishment seized them, on account of what they had earned.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور جہاں تک ثمود کا تعلق ہے تو ہم نے اُن کی بھی رہنمائی کی لیکن انہوں نے نابینائی پسند کرتے ہوئے (اُسے) ہدایت پر ترجیح دی۔ پس انہیں رُسوا کرنے والے عذاب کی بجلی نے اُس کسب کی و جہ سے پکڑلیا جو وہ کیا کرتے تھے۔

Et quant aux Thamūd. Nous leur donnâmes la direction, mais ils préférèrent l’aveuglement à la direction ; c’est pourquoi la calamité d’un châtiment humiliant les saisit, pour ce qu’ils avaient acquis,

Und was die Thamûd anlangt, so wissen Wir ihnen den Weg, sie aber zogen die Blindheit dem rechten Weg vor, drum erfasste sie das Unheil einer erniedrigenden Strafe um dessentwillen, was sie begangen.

关于洒姆德, 我赐了他们指导, 但是他们宁愿盲目而不愿向导。因为他们的作为, 所以他们遭受了羞辱的惩罚的灾难。

Italian

E quanto ai Tamud, Noi li guidammo, ma essi preferirono la cecità alla guida, così che li colse la sventura di un castigo umiliante, per quanto si erano guadagnati.

Spanish

En cuanto a Zamud, les proporcionamos la guía, pero prefirieron la ceguera a la guía, por lo que la desgracia de un castigo humillante cayó sobre ellos, en razón de lo que habían merecido.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ثمود (کا یہ حال تھا کہ) ہم نے اُن کو ہدایت کا راستہ دکھایا تھا لیکن انہوں نے گمراہی کو ہدایت پر ترجیح دی۔ پس اُن کو ایک رسوائی کے عذاب نے اُن کے اعمال کی وجہ سے آگھیرا۔

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness to guidance, so the calamity of a humiliating punishment seized them, on account of what they had earned.

And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to guidance, so the calamity of a humiliating punishment seized them, on account of what they had earned.[3570]

Commentary:

The word عمی (blindness) has been used here in the sense of blindness of the heart or mind.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

رہے ثمود، تو ان کے سامنے ہم نے راہ راست پیش کی مگر انہوں نے راستہ دیکھنے کے بجائے اندھا بنا رہنا پسند کیا آخر اُن کے کرتوتوں کی بدولت ذلت کا عذاب اُن پر ٹوٹ پڑا

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.

اور وہ جو قوم ثمود تھی ہم نے انہیں ہدایت کی سو انہوں نے گمراہی کو بمقابلہ ہدایت کے پسند کیا پھر انہیں کڑاکے کے ذلیل کرنے والے عذاب نے آ لیا ان کے اعمال کے سبب سے

As for Thamood, We guided them, but they preferred blindness above guidance, so the thunderbolt of the chastisement of humiliation seized them for that they were earning.

As for Thamud, We bestowed guidance upon them, but they preferred to remain blind rather than be guided. At last a humiliating scourge overtook them on account of their misdeeds.

As for the (tribe of) Thamud, We tried to guide them, but they preferred blindness to guidance; then they were seized by the torment of a humiliating punishment as requital for their misdeeds;

As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.
