اَفَلَا یَتَدَبَّرُوۡنَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَ اَمۡ عَلٰی قُلُوۡبٍ اَقۡفَالُہَاۤ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Will they not, then, ponder over the Qur’an, or is it that on the hearts are their locks?

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس کیا وہ قرآن پر تدبر نہیں کرتے یا دلوں پر اُن کے تالے پڑے ہوئے ہیں؟

Ne veulent-ils donc pas réfléchir sur le Coran, ou est-ce que leur cœur est verrouillé de l'interieur ?

Wollen sie also nicht über den Qur-ân nachdenken, oder ist´s, dass die Herzen unter ihren Schlössern sind?

Non vorranno dunque meditare sul Corano? Oppure, hanno sui loro cuori chiavistelli?

¿No meditarán, pues, en el Corán, o es que ellos mismos han cerrado sus corazones por dentro?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کیا وہ قرآن پر غور نہیں کرتے‘ کیا ان کے دلوں پر ایسے قفل ہیں جو ان کے دلوں [2]ہی کی پیداوار ہیں۔

یعنی خدا نے نہیں لگائے بلکہ ان کی بدعملی سے وہ قفل ان کے دل پر لگے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]Will they not, then, ponder over the Qur’an, or, is it that there are locks on their hearts?

4:83.

English - Five Volume Translation

[a]Will they not, then, ponder over the Quran, or is it that on the hearts are their locks?[3808]

4:83.

Commentary:

This verse constitutes an enlargement of the one preceding it. It purports to say that it is because disbelievers do not ponder over the Quran and do not try to understand and realise the real purpose of Islamic wars that they lose their spiritual sight and hearing and begin to find fault with the Quranic commandments about war.

کیا ان لوگوں نے قرآن پر غور نہیں کیا، یا دلوں پر اُن کے قفل چڑھے ہوئے ہیں؟

English - Sahih

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?

پھر کیوں قرآن پر غور نہیں کرتے کیا ان کے دلوں پر قفل پڑے ہوئے ہیں

English - Talal Itani

Then do not they ponder (over) the Quran or upon (their) hearts (are) locks?
