5:105

وَاِذَا قِیۡلَ لَہُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا اِلٰی مَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰہُ وَاِلَی الرَّسُوۡلِ قَالُوۡا حَسۡبُنَا مَا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ اٰبَآءَنَاۤ ۚ اَوَلَوۡ کَانَ اٰبَآؤُہُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ شَیۡـًٔا وَّلَا یَہۡتَدُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when it is said to them, ‘Come to what Allah has revealed, and to the Messenger,’ they say, ‘Sufficient for us is that wherein we found our fathers.’ What! even though their fathers had no knowledge and no guidance?

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور جب انہیں کہا جاتا ہے کہ جو اللہ نے اُتارا ہے اس کی طرف آؤ اور رسول کی طرف آؤ تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لئے وہی بہت کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے آباءو اَجداد کو پایا۔ کیا اس صورت میں بھی (کافی ہے) کہ ان کے آباءواجداد کچھ بھی نہیں جانتے تھے اور نہ ہدایت حاصل کرتے تھے۔

French

Et quand on leur dit : « Venez vers ce qu’Allāh a fait descendre, et vers le Messager, » ils répondent : « La religion où nous avons trouvé nos pères nous suffit. » Comment ! Même si leurs pères n’avaient aucun savoir et n'avaient pas emprunté la bonne voie ?

German

Und wenn ihnen gesagt wird: "Kommt her zu dem, was Allah herabgesandt hat, und zu dem Gesandten", sagen sie: "Uns genügt das, worin wir unsere Väter vorfanden." Und selbst wenn ihre Väter kein Wissen hatten und nicht auf dem rechten Wege waren!

当有人对他们说: “归向安拉下降的 (经典) 和使者吧!” 他们说: “我们从我们的祖先得到的, 足够我们的了。”假如他们的祖先没有 (宗教) 知识, 不知道正路, (那么, 他们还是故步自封?)

Italian

E quando viene detto a loro: «Venite a quanto è stato fatto scendere da Allah, e al messaggero», essi rispondono: «Ci basta quello su cui abbiamo trovato i nostri padri.» Che? Anche se i loro padri non sapevano nulla e non avevano nessuna guida?

Spanish

Y cuando se les dice: “Venid a lo que Al-lah ha revelado, y al Mensajero”, dicen: “nos basta lo que al respecto encontramos en nuestros padres”. ¡Cómo! ¿a pesar de que sus padres no tenían conocimiento ni guía?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ خدا کے اتارے ہوئے (کلام) اور (اس کے) رسول کی طرف آؤ تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے جس (بات) پر اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا تھا (وہ) ہمارے لئے کافی ہے کیا اگر(یہ صورت ہوکہ) ان کے باپ دادا نادان ہوں اور صحیح راستہ نہ جانتے ہوں (تب بھی وہ اپنی ضد پر قائم رہیں گے؟)

English - Short Commentary Translation

English - Five Volume Translation

And [a]when it is said to them, ‘Come to what Allah has revealed, and to the Messenger,’ they say, ‘Sufficient for us is that wherein we found our fathers.’ What! even though their fathers had no knowledge and no guidance?[732]

2:171; 31:22.

Commentary:

It is indeed strange that when science and knowledge advance and new discoveries and new inventions are made, people are quick to throw overboard worn out ideas and theories tenaciously held by their forefathers and hasten to accept and benefit by the new inventions and discoveries; but when a Prophet brings to them a new guidance from God, they refuse to accept it on the ground that it does not agree with the beliefs and ideas held by their ancestors and with their own time-honoured notions and theories. How foolish is this attitude and how lame and absurd the excuse for the rejection of divine truths! This is how the Quran exposes the untenability of the position of the rejecters of truth.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ آؤ اُس قانون کی طرف جو اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اور آؤ پیغمبرؐ کی طرف تو وہ جواب دیتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لیے تو بس وہی طریقہ کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے کیا یہ باپ دادا ہی کی تقلید کیے چلے جائیں گے خواہ وہ کچھ نہ جانتے ہوں اور صحیح راستہ کی انہیں خبر ہی نہ ہو؟

English - Sahih

And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," they say, "Sufficient for us is that upon which we found our fathers." Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided?

اور جب انہیں کہا جاتا ہے اس کی طرف آؤ جو الله نے نازل کیا ہ اور رسول کی طرف تو کہتے ہیں ہمیں وہ کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے باپ دادا کو پایا بھلا اگر چہ ان کے باپ دادانہ کچھ علم رکھتے ہوں نہ انہوں نے ہدایت پائی ہو تو بھی ایسا ہی کریں گے

And when it is said to them, "Come to what has (been) revealed (by) Allah and to the Messenger," they said, "Sufficient for us (is) what we found upon it our forefathers." Even though (that) their forefathers (were) not knowing anything and not they (were) guided?

English - Arberry

And when it is said to them, 'Come now to what God has sent down, and the Messenger, they say, 'Enough for us is what we found our fathers doing.' What, even if their fathers had knowledge of naught and were not guided?

English - Maududi

When they are asked: 'Come to what Allah has revealed, and come to the Messenger', they reply: 'The way of our refathers suffices us.' (Will they continue to follow their forefathers) even though their forefathers might have known nothing, and might have been on the wrong way?

English - Ahmed Ali

When you say to them: "Come to what God has revealed, and the Prophet," they say: "Sufficient to us is the faith that our fathers had followed," even though their fathers had no knowledge or guidance.

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?
