“灭亡的时刻” 是指伊斯兰教的最后胜利。这一单词也用来指麦加的攻克。不信的古莱西 (قُرَيْش, Quraish) 政权最终被彻底粉碎。麦加的攻克相当突然。直到穆斯林武装抵达麦加大门口时, 古莱西族对有关穆斯林武装的活动情况才略有所知。

The Fall took place quite suddenly. The Quraish did not have the least inkling about the Muslim army till it had reached the very gates of Mecca.
