صَابَ , (S, M, A,) [aor. يَصُوبُ,] inf. n. صَوْبٌ
(S, M, A, K) and مَصَابٌ, (Har p. 240,) said of
rain, (S, M, A, *) It poured forth; (M, A, K;)
as also ↓ انصاب: (M, K:) or it descended; and
↓ تصوّب signifies the like. (S.) A poet says,
فَسَقَى دِيَارَكَ غَيْرَ مُفْسِدِهَا
صَوْبُ الرَّبِيعِ وَدِيمَةٌ تَهْمِى
which may mean, [And may] the descending of
the rain called the ربيع [and continuous rain, or
continuous and still rain, pouring forth, water
thy districts, not injuring them]: or it may mean,
[may] the rain of the season called the ربيع [&c.]:
so says IHsh. (MF, TA.) And one says of a
calamity (شِدَّة), on the occasion of its befalling,
صَابَتْ بِقُرٍّ, meaning It became [or fell] in its قَرَار
[or settled or fixed place, or in the place where it
should remain]. (S, TA. [See also art. قر.]) ―

صَابُوا بِسِتَّةِ أَبْيَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٍ
حَتَّى كَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ جَابِئًا لُبَدَا
meaning [They fell upon, or assaulted, six tents,
or dwellings, and four; so that it was as though
there were upon them] numerous locusts. (TA.) ＝

اگر تجھے کوئی بھلائی پہنچے تو انہیں بُری لگتی ہے اور اگر تجھ پر کوئی مصیبت آپڑے تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تو اپنا معاملہ پہلے ہی (اپنے ہاتھ) لے بیٹھے تھے اور وہ پیٹھ پھیر کر چلے جاتے ہیں جبکہ وہ (خوشی سے) اِترا رہے ہوتے ہیں۔

Si un bonheur t’arrive, ils s’en chagrinent, mais si un malheur t’accable, ils disent : « Nous avions assurément pris nos précautions d’avance. » Et ils tournent le dos en se réjouissant.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اگر تجھے کوئی فائدہ پہنچے تو ان کو برا لگتا ہے اور اگر تجھ پر کوئی مصیبت آجائے تو وہ کہتے ہیں‘ ہم نے تو پہلے ہی سے اپنے پیش آنے والے دنوں کا انتظام کر لیا تھا اور وہ خوشی کے مارے[2] پیٹھ پھیر کر چلے جاتے ہیں۔
یعنی وہ اس بات پر خوش ہوتے ہیں کہ ہماری تدبیر نے ہم کو بچا لیا اور مسلمانوں کی تدبیریں ان کے کام نہ آئیں۔

Les messagers dirent : « Ô Lot, nous sommes les messagers de ton Seigneur. Ils ne pourront nullement t’atteindre. Alors pars avec ta famille dans le courant de la nuit et qu’aucun d’entre vous ne regarde en arrière si ce n’est ta femme. Assurément, ce qui va arriver à ton peuple lui arrivera à elle également. En vérité, leur heure promise pour leur châtiment est le matin. Le matin n’est-il pas proche ? »

وہ علاقہ کے اولیاء تھے جن کو خداتعالیٰ نے لوط علیہ السلام کے پاس اس لئے بھیجا تھا کہ چونکہ وہ غیر ملک کے ہیں۔ ان لوگوں کی راہنمائی میں علاقہ میں کوئی ٹھکانا پا سکیں اور حیران نہ ہوں۔

Commentary:
When the strangers heard Lot pathetically say to his people that he would pray to God against them, they, who had till then kept the matter secret, revealed to him that God had already decreed their punishment and that it was that decree which they had come to communicate to him. They also announced to him that the threatened punishment would not affect his اھل (family or followers) who would be saved except his wife who was doomed.
The verse mentions the time of morning as the time of the coming punishment because the morning is generally the time of negligence and is thus best suited to remind wicked people of the real cause of Divine chastisement.

تب فرشتوں نے اس سے کہا کہ "اے لوطؑ، ہم تیرے رب کے بھیجے ہوئے فرشتے ہیں، یہ لوگ تیرا کچھ نہ بگاڑ سکیں گے بس تو کچھ رات رہے اپنے اہل و عیال کو لے کر نکل جا اور دیکھو، تم میں سے کوئی شخص پیچھے پلٹ کر نہ دیکھے مگر تیر ی بیوی (ساتھ نہیں جائے گی) کیونکہ اس پر بھی وہی کچھ گزرنے والا ہے جو اِن لوگوں پر گزرنا ہے ان کی تباہی کے لیے صبح کا وقت مقرر ہے صبح ہوتے اب دیر ہی کتنی ہے!"

The angels said, "O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; [therefore], they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night and let not any among you look back - except your wife; indeed, she will be struck by that which strikes them. Indeed, their appointment is [for] the morning. Is not the morning near?"
