English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Or He can destroy them because of that which they (the men) have earned — but He forgives many of their sins —

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یا اُن (کشتیوں) کو اُن (سواروں) کے کسب کی وجہ سے ہلاک کر دے جو وہ کرتے رہے۔ اور بہت سی باتوں سے وہ درگزر کرتا ہے۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یا اگر وہ چاہے تو کشتی [2]والوں کو ان کے اعمال کی وجہ سے ہلاک کر دے اور وہ بہت سے گناہوں کو معاف کر دیتا ہے۔

ہم نے ’’کشتی والے‘‘ معنے کیے ہیں۔ لیکن قرآن مجید میں ہے کہ کشتیوں کو ہلاک کر دیں‘ ہم نے یہ معنے اس لئے کیے ہیں کہ کشتی والوں کا رزق کشتی کے ساتھ وابستہ ہوتا ہے اگر کشتیاں تباہ ہو جائیں تو کشتی والے بھی تباہ ہو جاتے ہیں۔ پس حذف مضاف کے ذریعہ سے ہم نے ترجمہ ٹھیک کرلیا ہے اسی طرح اس آیت میں ہے کہ ہم کشتیوں کو ان کے اعمال کی وجہ سے تباہ کریں گے۔ اور اعمال کشتی والے کرتے ہیں نہ کہ کشتیاں۔ پس اس دلالت نے بھی بتا دیا ہے کہ اس جگہ کشتی والوں کا ذکر ہے نہ کہ کشتیوں کا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Or, He can destroy those who are in them because of that which they have earned— but He forgives many of their sins—

یا (اُن پر سوار ہونے والوں کے) بہت سے گناہوں سے در گزر کرتے ہوئے ان کے چند ہی کرتوتوں کی پاداش میں انہیں ڈبو دے
