ثَمٰنِیَۃَ اَزۡوٰجٍ ۖ مِّنَ الضَّاۡنِ اثۡنَیۡنِ وَمِنَ الۡمَعۡزِ اثۡنَیۡنِ ۗ قُلۡ آٰلذَّکَرَیۡنِ حَرَّمَ اَمِ الۡاُنۡثَیَیۡنِ اَمَّا اشۡتَمَلَتۡ عَلَیۡہِ اَرۡحَامُ الۡاُنۡثَیَیۡنِ ۖ نَبِّـُٔوۡنِیۡ بِعِلۡمٍ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And of the cattle He has created eight mates: of the sheep two, and of the goats two; — say, ‘Is it the two males that He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you are truthful.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

(اللہ نے) آٹھ جوڑے بنائے ہیں۔ بھیڑوں میں سے دو اور بکریوں میں سے دو۔ تو پوچھ کیا (ان میں سے) دو نَر اس (خدا) نے حرام کئے ہیں یا دو مادینیں یا وہ جن پر ان دو مادینوں کے رحم مشتمل ہیں؟ مجھے کسی علم کی بِنا پر بتاؤ اگر تم سچے ہو۔

French

Huit couples en tout se composant de deux pour les moutons et deux pour les chèvres. Dis : « Est-ce les deux mâles qu’Il a interdits, ou les deux femelles, ou ce qui est encore dans le ventre des deux femelles ? Renseignez-moi avec connaissance, si vous êtes véridiques. »

Afirman que Al-lah ha creado ocho parejas en conjunto compuestas por dos de ovinos y dos de caprinos; diles: “¿son los dos machos los que Él ha prohibido, o las dos hembras, o lo que éstas llevan en sus vientres? Comunicádmelo con conocimiento, si sois veraces”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اس نے) آٹھ جوڑوں کو (پیدا کیا ہے) دنبہ میں سے دو کو‘ اور بکرے میں سے دو کو۔ تو ان سے کہہ کہ کیا اس نے دو نروں کو حرام کیا ہے یا دو مادینوں کو‘ یا مادینوں کے رحموں نے جس چیز کو بھی (اپنے اندر) لپیٹا ہوا ہے (اس کو حرام کیا ہے) اگر تم سچے ہو تو مجھے کسی علم کی بنا پر (یہ بات) بتاؤ۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And [b]of the cattle He has created eight mates—of the sheep two, and of the goats two. Say, ‘Is it the two males that He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge if you are truthful.’

And [a]of the cattle He has created eight mates: of the sheep two, and of the goats two;—say, ‘Is it the two males that He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you are truthful.’[883]

Important Words:

ازواج (mates) is the plural of زوج (a mate). The word is used to signify, one of the pair, whether male or female and whether among human beings or among animals, or whether among plants or among any class of things.

الضأن (sheep is the plural of الضائن (one sheep). The word is applied to all animals of the class of غنم (which cover both sheep and goats) having wool (Aqrab & Lane).

المعز (goats) is he generic plural of الماعز (one goat). The word is applied to all animals of the class of غنم (for which see above) having hair (not wool) and small tails (Aqrab & Lane).

یہ آٹھ نر و مادہ ہیں، دو بھیڑ کی قسم سے اور دو بکری کی قسم سے، اے محمدؐ! ان سے پوچھو کہ اللہ نے اُن کے نر حرام کیے ہیں یا مادہ، یا وہ بچے جو بھیڑوں اور بکریوں کے پیٹ میں ہوں؟ ٹھیک ٹھیک علم کے ساتھ مجھے بتاؤ اگر تم سچے ہو
