وَعُرِضُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ صَفًّا لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا كَمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۭ ۚ بَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَلَّن نَّجْعَلَ لَكُم مَّوْعِدًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And they will be presented to thy Lord, standing in rows: ‘Now have you come to Us as We created you at first. But you thought that We would fix no time for the fulfilment of Our promise to you.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور وہ تیرے ربّ کے حضور صف بہ صف پیش کئے جائیں گے۔ یقیناً تم ہمارے سامنے حاضر ہوگئے ہو جس طرح ہم نے پہلی مرتبہ تمہیں پیدا کیا تھا لیکن تم گمان کر بیٹھے تھے کہ ہم ہرگز تمہارے لئے کوئی موعود دن مقرر نہیں کریں گے۔

French

Et ils seront présentés à ton Seigneur alignés en rangs : « Maintenant vous êtes venus auprès de Nous comme Nous vous avions créés au début. Mais vous pensiez que Nous ne fixerions jamais pour vous un jour promis. »

German

Und sie werden vor deinem Herrn aufgestellt werden in Reihen: "Nun seid ihr zu Uns gekommen, so wie Wir euch erstmals erschufen. Ihr aber wähntet, Wir würden euch nie einen Tag der Erfüllung bestimmen."

Serán presentadas a tu Señor, dispuestas en filas: “Ahora comparecéis ante Nosotros como os creamos al principio. Aunque ensasteis que no fijaríamos un plazo para el cumplimiento de Nuestra promesa hecha a vosotros”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور وہ صف باندھے ہوئے تیرے رب کے سامنے پیش کئے جائیں گے (اور ان سے کہا جائے گا کہ) دیکھ لو تم اسی طرح کمزوری کی حالت میں) ہمارے پاس آگئے ہو جس حالت میں ہم نے تمہیں پہلی بار پیدا کیا تھا (اور تم یہ امید نہیں رکھتے تھے) بلکہ تمہیں دعویٰ تھا کہ ہم تمہارے لئے کوئی وعدہ (کے پورا ہونے) کی ساعت مقرر نہیں کریں گے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[b]And they will be presented to thy Lord standing in rows; and it will be said to them, [c]‘Now have you come to Us as We created you at first.[1698] But you thought that We would not appoint a time for the fulfilment of Our promise to you.’

78:39.

The words signify that they will become divested of all power and authority and will be reduced to a state of subjection and disgrace as before.

[a]And they will be presented to thy Lord standing in rows: [b]‘Now have you come to Us as We created you at first. But you thought that We would fix no time for the fulfilment of Our promise.’[2089]

78:39.

Commentary:

The words, And they will be presented to thy Lord standing in rows, mean that the decree of God about their final destruction will certainly come into force.

The clause, Now have you come to Us as We created you at first, signifies that they will become divested of all power and authority and will be reduced to a state of subjection and disgrace as before.

The expression, But you thought that We would fix no time for the fulfilment of Our promise, means that they had laboured under the misconception that We had lost all control over them and had fixed no time of reckoning for their iniquities and transgressions. The verse constitutes an amplification of v. 36 above where an analogous expression viz. I do not think that this will ever perish, occurs.

اور سب کے سب تمہارے رب کے حضور صف در صف پیش کیے جائیں گے لو دیکھ لو، آ گئے نا تم ہمارے پاس اُسی طرح جیسا ہم نے تم کو پہلی بار پیدا کیا تھا تم نے تو یہ سمجھا تھا کہ ہم نے تمہارے لیے کوئی وعدے کا وقت مقرر ہی نہیں کیا ہے

English - Sahih

And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, [and He will say], "You have certainly come to Us just as We created you the first time. But you claimed that We would never make for you an appointment."

اور سب تیرے رب کے سامنے صف باندھ کر پیش کیے جائیں گے البتہ تحقیق تم ہمارے پاس آئے ہو جیسا ہم نے تم کو پہلی بار پیدا کیا تھا بلکہ تم نے خیال کیا تھا کہ ہم تمہارے لیے کوئی وعدہ مقرر نہ کریں گے

And they will be presented before your Lord (in) rows, "Certainly, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, you claimed that not We made for you an appointment."
