وَقَالُوۡا قُلُوۡبُنَا فِیۡۤ اَکِنَّۃٍ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُوۡنَاۤ اِلَیۡہِ وَفِیۡۤ اٰذَانِنَا وَقۡرٌ وَّمِنۡۢ بَیۡنِنَا وَبَیۡنِکَ حِجَابٌ فَاعۡمَلۡ اِنَّنَا عٰمِلُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And they say: ‘Our hearts are under covers and are protected against that to which thou callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a screen. So carry on thy work; we too are working.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور اُنہوں نے کہا کہ جن باتوں کی طرف تُو ہمیں بلاتا ہے ان سے ہمارے دل پردوں میں ہیں اور ہمارے کانوں میں ایک بوجھ ہے نیز ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان ایک حجاب حائل ہے پس تُو جو چاہے کر یقیناً ہم بھی کچھ کرنے والے ہیں۔

Et ils disent : « Notre cœur est sous des voiles et à l’abri de ce vers quoi tu nous appelles, et dans nos oreilles il y a une surdité, et entre nous et toi est un voile. Poursuis donc ton travail ; nous aussi, nous œuvrons. »

German

Sie sprechen: "Unsere Herzen sind verhüllt gegen das, wozu du uns berufst, und in unseren Ohren ist Taubheit, und zwischen uns und dir ist ein Vorhang. So handle, auch wir handeln."

Chinese

[f]他们说: “我们的心在遮盖中 (不受影响的), 对于你所呼唤我们的, 我们的耳是重听的,[1176]在我们和你之间有一个幕帐。你 (照着你的信念) 工作; 我们也正在 (照着我们的信念) 工作。”

Y dicen: “Nuestros corazones están cubiertos y protegidos contra aquello a lo que nos invocas, en nuestros oídos hay sordera, y ntre tú y nosotros hay un velo. Continúa pues tu trabajo; nosotros también estamos trabajando”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور کہتے ہیں جس چیز کی طرف تم ہمیں بلاتے ہو اس کے ماننے سے ہمارے دل پردوں میں ہیں (یعنی وہ ہمارے دلوں پر اثر نہیں کر سکتی) اور ہمارے کانوں میں بہرا پن[2] ہے (جس کی وجہ سے ہم تمہاری بات سن ہی نہیں سکتے) اور ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان ایک پردہ[3] ہے۔ پس تو (اپنے عقیدہ کے مطابق) کام کر‘ ہم (اپنے عقیدہ کے مطابق) کام کریں گے۔

بہرا پن سے مراد یہ ہے کہ دل راغب نہیں تو کان کس طرح سے سنیں۔

پردہ سے مراد طبائع کا اختلاف ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[f]And they say, ‘Our hearts are secure under coverings against that to which thou callest us, and in our ears there is a heaviness,[2621] and between us and thee there is a veil. So carry on thy work; we, too, are working.’

6:26; 17:47; 18:58.

The verse depicts disbelievers as saying sarcastically to the Holy Prophet, 'your teaching is too good for us sinners to accept and your ideals too sublime to be understood and realized by us.' If the words are taken to be spoken seriously they would mean, 'We are fully determined not to accept your teaching. We have closed all the avenues of our hearts, eyes and ears against it.'

Commentary:

The verse depicts disbelievers as saying ironically and sarcastically to the Holy Prophet, "your teaching is too good for us sinners to accept and your ideals too sublime to be understood and realized by us." If the words are taken to be spoken seriously they would mean: "We are fully determined not to accept your teaching. We have closed all the avenues of our hearts, eyes and ears against it."

کہتے ہیں "جس چیز کی طرف تو ہمیں بلا رہا ہے اس کے لیے ہمارے دلوں پر غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں، ہمارے کان بہرے ہو گئے ہیں، اور ہمارے اور تیرے درمیان ایک حجاب حائل ہو گیا ہے تو اپنا کام کر، ہم اپنا کام کیے جائیں گے"

English - Sahih

And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working."

اور کہتے ہیں ہمارے دل اس بات سے کہ جس کی طرف تو ہمیں بلاتا ہے پردوں میں ہیں اور ہمارے کانوں میں بوجھ ہے اور ہمارے اور آپ کے درمیان پردہ پڑا ہوا ہے پھر آپ اپنا کام کیے جائیں ہم بھی اپنا کام کر رہے ہیں

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

بہرا پن سے مراد یہ ہے کہ دل راغب نہیں تو کان کس طرح سے سنیں۔

پردہ سے مراد طبائع کا اختلاف ہے۔
