There is no harm for the blind and there is no harm for the lame, and there is no harm for the sick and none for yourselves, that you eat from your own houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your fathers’ brothers or the houses of your fathers’ sisters, or the houses of your mothers’ brothers, or the houses of your mothers’ sisters, or from that of which the keys are in your possession, or from the house of a friend of yours. There is no harm for you whether you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, salute your people — a greeting from your Lord, full of blessing and purity. French

Il n’y a aucun mal pour l’aveugle, et il n’y a aucun mal pour le boiteux, et il n’y a aucun mal pour le malade, ni pour vous-mêmes, à ce que vous mangiez dans votre propre maison, ou dans la maison de votre père, ou dans la maison de votre mère, ou dans la maison de vos frères, ou dans la maison de vos soeurs, ou dans la maison des frères de votre père, ou dans la maison des soeurs de votre père, ou dans la maison des frères de votre mère, ou dans la maison des soeurs de votre mère, ou dans celles dont vous possédez les clés, ou dans la maison d’un ami à vous. Kein Vorwurf trifft den Blinden, noch trifft ein Vorwurf den Lahmen, kein Vorwurf trifft den Kranken oder euch selbst, wenn ihr in euren eigenen Häusern esset, oder den Häusern eurer Väter, oder den Häusern eurer Mütter, oder den Häusern eurer Brüder, oder den Häusern eurer Schwestern, oder den Häusern eurer Vatersbrüder, oder den Häusern eurer Vatersschwestern, oder den Häusern eurer Mutterbrüder, oder den Häusern eurer Mutterschwestern, oder in einem (Haus), dessen Schlüssel in eurer Obhut sind, oder (in dem Haus) eures Freundes. 瞎子、瘸子、病人以及你们自己, 不妨在你们自己、父亲、母亲、弟兄、姊妹、叔伯、姑母、舅父、姨母、由你们管理其锁匙者, 或你的朋友的家里吃饭, 无论聚餐或分食对你们都是无妨的。[915] [a]当你们进入家中时, 要向你们家中的人道祝平安。这是安拉所教赋有吉庆而圣洁的祈祷。安拉就这样为你们阐明自己的命令, 以便你们运用自己的理智。

Non c'è colpa per il cieco, e non c'è colpa per lo zoppo, e non c'è colpa per l'ammalato, né per voi stessi, se mangiate nelle vostre case, o nelle case dei vostri padri, o nelle case delle vostre madri, o nelle case dei vostri fratelli, o nelle case delle vostre sorelle, o nelle case dei fratelli di vostro padre, o nelle case delle sorelle di vostro padre, o nelle case dei fratelli di vostra madre, o nelle case delle sorelle di vostra madre, o nelle case di cui possedete le chiavi, o nella casa di un vostro amico. Né c'è colpa alcuna se mangiate insieme o da soli. Ma quando entrate nelle case, salutate la vostra gente con un saluto che viene dal vostro Signore, colmo di benedizione e di purezza. No habrá culpa para el ciego ni culpa para el cojo, ni culpa para el enfermo, ni para vosotros mismos, si coméis de vuestras propias casas o de las casas de vuestros padres, o las casas de vuestras madres o de vuestros hermanos, o las casas de vuestras hermanas, o las de los hermanos o hermanas de vuestros padres, o las casas de los hermanos o hermanas de vuestras madres, o de las casas cuyas llaves estén en vuestro poder, o de la casa de un amigo vuestro. Tampoco seréis culpados si coméis juntos o separados. Pero cuando entréis en las casas, saludad a vuestras gentes: un saludo de vuestro Señor, lleno de bendiciones y pureza. Así Al‑lah os aclara los mandamientos, para que entendáis.

نہ اندھوں[1] پر‘ نہ لنگڑوں پر‘ نہ مریض پر‘ نہ تم پر اپنے گھروں سے یا اپنے باپ دادوں کے گھروں سے یا اپنی ماؤں (یا ننھیال) کے گھر سے یا اپنے بھائیوں کے گھر سے یا اپنی بہنوں کے گھر سے یا اپنے چچوں کے گھر سے یا اپنی پھوپھیوں کے گھر سے یا اپنے ماموؤں کے گھر سے یا اپنی خالاؤں کے گھر سے یا جن کے سامان کے انتظام پر تم مقرر ہو‘ یا اپنے دوستوں کے گھروں سے کوئی چیز لے کر کھا لینے میں کوئی حرج ہے (اسی طرح) تم پر کوئی گناہ نہیں کہ تم سب مل کر کھاؤ یا الگ الگ کھاؤ۔ پس جب گھروں میں داخل ہونے لگو تو اپنے عزیزوں یا دوستوں پر سلام کہہ لیا کرو۔ یہ اللہ کی طرف سے ایک بڑی برکت والی اور پاکیزہ دعا ہے۔ اسی طرح اللہ اپنے احکام تمہیں کھول کر سناتا ہے تا کہ تم عقل سے کام لو۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

There is no harm for the blind, and there is no harm for the lame, and there is no harm for the sick and none for yourselves, that you eat from your own houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your fathers’ brothers, or the houses of your fathers’ sisters, or the houses of your mothers’ brothers, or the houses of your mothers’ sisters, or the houses of which the keys are in your possession, or from the house of a friend of yours. کوئی حرج نہیں اگر کوئی اندھا، یا لنگڑا، یا مریض (کسی کے گھر سے کھا لے) اور نہ تمہارے اوپر اِس میں کوئی مضائقہ ہے کہ اپنے گھروں سے کھاؤ یا اپنے باپ دادا کے گھروں سے، یا اپنی ماں نانی کے گھروں سے، یا اپنے بھائیوں کے گھروں سے، یا اپنی بہنوں کے گھروں سے، یا اپنے چچاؤں کے گھروں سے، یا اپنی پھوپھیوں کے گھروں سے، یا اپنے ماموؤں کے گھروں سے، یا اپنی خالاؤں کے گھروں سے، یا اُن گھروں سے جن کی کنجیاں تمہاری سپردگی میں ہوں، یا اپنے دوستوں کے گھروں سے اس میں بھی کوئی حرج نہیں کہ تم لوگ مل کر کھاؤ یا الگ الگ البتہ جب گھروں میں داخل ہوا کرو تو اپنے لوگوں کو سلام کیا کرو، دعا ئے خیر، اللہ کی طرف سے مقرر فر مائی ہوئی، بڑی بابرکت اور پاکیزہ اِس طرح اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے سامنے آیات بیان کرتا ہے، توقع ہے کہ تم سمجھ بوجھ سے کام لو گے

English - Sahih

There is not upon the blind [any] constraint nor upon the lame constraint nor upon the ill constraint nor upon yourselves when you eat from your [own] houses or the houses of your fathers or the houses of your mothers or the houses of your brothers or the houses of your sisters or the houses of your father's brothers or the houses of your father's sisters or the houses of your mother's brothers or the houses of your mother's sisters or [from houses] whose keys you possess or [from the house] of your friend. There is no blame upon you whether you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other - a greeting from Allah, blessed and good. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses [of ordinance] that you may understand.

English - Arberry

There is no fault in the blind, and there is no fault in the lame, and there is no fault in the sick, neither in yourselves, that you eat of your houses, or your fathers' houses, or your mothers' houses, or your brothers' houses, or your sisters' houses, or the houses of your uncles or your aunts paternal, or the houses of your uncles or your aunts maternal, or that whereof you own the keys, or of your friend; there is no fault in you that you eat all together, or in groups separately. But when you enter houses, greet one another with a greeting from God, blessed and good. So God makes clear to you the signs; haply you will understand.

There is no harm if a blind or a lame or a sick person (takes a meal at another's house): nor is there any harm for yourselves if you take meals at your own houses or at the houses of your fathers and grandfathers or at the houses of your mothers and grandmothers or at your brothers' houses or at your sisters' houses or at the houses of your paternal uncles or at the houses of your paternal aunts or at the houses of your maternal uncles or at the houses of your maternal aunts or from the houses whose keys are in your possession or at the houses of your friends. Commentary:

This verse deals with some rules of social conduct. These rules are intended to dispose of those foolish prejudices that prevail among certain sections of human society and tend to restrict free intercourse between the rich and the poor. Islam enjoins complete social equality and is the avowed enemy of division of people within water-tight compartments. Here it has stressed the importance and usefulness of free social intercourse and collective dining among all classes of society, and has encouraged and preferred eating together to promote familiarity and to remove those bars that keep apart people of different social standing, though it has not disallowed eating separately.

The Arabs and Jews had scruples to eat with the blind or with persons suffering from certain social disabilities, as the Hindus of India even to this day do not eat or sit with the "untouchables". Islam looks askance at all such practices and encourages interdining and free intercourse among all classes and sections of people.

The expression بیوتکم (your own houses) includes the houses of one’s sons, and daughters because in the following list of the houses where one can eat freely the houses of sons and daughters are omitted while, being the nearest relatives, they should have been mentioned first of all.
