59:10

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلْإِيمَٰنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِى صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِّمَّآ أُوتُوا۟ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ ۚ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And those who had established their home in this city before them and had accepted faith, love those who came to them for refuge, and find not in their breasts any desire for that which is given them (Refugees), but prefer the Refugees to themselves, even though poverty be their own lot. And whoso is rid of the covetousness of his own soul — it is these who will be successful.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور وہ لوگ جنہوں نے ان سے پہلے ہی گھر تیار کر رکھے تھے اور ایمان کو (دلوں میں) جگہ دی تھی وہ ان سے محبت کرتے تھے جو ہجرت کرکے ان کی طرف آئے اور اپنے سینوں میں اس کی کچھ حاجت نہیں پاتے تھے جو اُن (مہاجروں) کو دیا گیا اور خود اپنی جانوں پر دوسروں کو ترجیح دیتے تھے باوجود اس کے کہ انہیں خود تنگی درپیش تھی۔ پس جو کوئی بھی نفس کی خساست سے بچایا جائے تو یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جو کامیاب ہونے والے ہیں۔

French

Et pour ceux qui avaient établi domicile dans cette ville avant eux et avaient accepté la Foi, qui aiment ceux qui sont venus à eux pour chercher refuge, et ils ne trouvent dans leurs poitrines aucune envie pour ce qui est accordé aux Réfugiés, mais ils donnent préférence aux autres sur eux-mêmes, bien qu’ils soient eux-mêmes dans l’indigence. Et quiconque est débarrassé de la convoitise de sa propre âme – ce sont ceux-là qui prospéreront.

German

Und jene, die vor ihnen in der Stadt wohnten und im Glauben (beharrten), lieben jene, die bei ihnen Zuflucht suchten, und finden in ihrer Brust keinen Wunsch nach dem, was ihnen gegeben ward, sondern sehen (die Flüchtlinge gern) vor sich selber bevorzugt, auch wenn sie selbst in Dürftigkeit sind. Und wer vor seiner eigenen Habsucht bewahrt ist – das sind die Erfolgreichen.

(同样地, 那些财产的一份归于) 原住于这个城市 (麦地纳), 在他们 (迁士) 迁来之前接受伊斯兰教信仰的人。他们喜爱迁移他们那里的人们, 他们不见自己的胸中对于所受赐予他们 (难民) 的东西, 有任何想望。即使他们也在匮乏景况中, 但宁愿先人后己。[1412]凡自身免除贪婪者, [a]他将是成功的人。

64:17.

Ed è per coloro che avevano fissato la loro dimora in questa città e avevano accolto la fede prima di loro. Essi amano quanti cercano rifugio presso di loro, e non nutrono in petto alcun desiderio per ciò che è stato dato loro (ai profughi), ma danno la preferenza ad altri piuttosto che a sé stessi, anche se la povertà sia la loro sorte. Chiunque si libererà della cupidigia della propria anima, costui avrà successo.

Y quienes habían establecido su casa en esta ciudad y habían aceptado la fe antes que ellos, aman a quienes acudieron a ellos pidiendo refugio, y no encuentran en sus corazones deseo alguno de lo que se les da a ellos (los refugiados), sino que prefieren a los demás a ellos mismos, aún cuando la privación sea su propia suerte. Pues quienes se libran de la avaricia de su propia alma sepan que son ellos los que serán bienaventurados.

اور (اسی طرح وہ مال ان لوگوں کے لئے بھی ہے) جو مدینہ میں پہلے سے رہتے تھے اور (مہاجرین کے آنے سے پہلے) ایمان قبول کر چکے تھے اور ان سے محبت کرتے تھے جو ان کی طرف ہجرت کرکے آئے اور اپنے دلوں میں اس (مال) کی کوئی خواہش نہیں رکھتے تھے جو ان کو دیا گیا تھا اور وہ باوجود اس کے کہ خود غریب تھے مہاجرین کو اپنے نفسوں پر ترجیح دیتے تھے‘ اور جن لوگوں کو اپنے نفس کے بخل سے محفوظ رکھا جائے ایسے تمام لوگ بامراد ہونے والے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And for those who had established their home in this City and had accepted the Faith before them. They love those who come to them for refuge, and find not in their breasts any desire for that which is given them (the Refugees), but give preference to the Refugees above themselves, even though poverty be their own lot.[3023] Whoso is rid of the covetousness of his own soul—it is these [a]who will be successful;

64:17.

The words constitute a great testimonial to the spirit of self-sacrifice, hospitality and goodwill of the Ansar (Helpers). The Refugees (Muhajirin) from Mecca came to them, deprived and denuded of all their possessions, and they received them with open arms and made them equal partners in their belongings. The bond of love and brotherhood which the Holy Prophet established between the Refugees from Mecca and the Helpers of Medina and to which this verse bears an eloquent testimony, stands unrivalled in the whole history of human relationships.

حاجة (desire) is derived from حاج which means, he was or became poor; he desired, sought or sought after. حاج و احتاج الیهmeans, he needed it. حاجة means, want, need, necessity; a thing wanted; an object of want; desire (Lane & Aqrab).

خصاصة (poverty) is inf. noun from خص which means, he was or became poor, in a state of poverty. خصاصة means, poverty, need; straightness or difficulty; an evil state or condition; thirst; hunger (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

Whereas the preceding verse constituted an eloquent commentary on the sincerity and devotion of the Refugees (مھاجرین)to their faith, in that they left their hearths and homes for the sake of God and his Messenger, the verse under comment embodies a great testimonial to the spirit of self-sacrifice, hospitality and goodwill of the Helpers (انصار). The Refugees from Mecca came to the Helpers, deprived and denuded of all their possessions, and the latter received them with open arms and made them equal partners in their belongings. The bond of love and brotherhood which the Holy Prophet established between the Refugees and the Helpers, and to which this verse bears an eloquent testimony, stands unrivalled in the whole history of human relationships. The verse may have special reference to the Helpers having foregone their share in the spoils that accrued to Muslims from the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir.

(اور وہ اُن لوگوں کے لیے بھی ہے) جو اِن مہاجرین کی آمد سے پہلے ہی ایمان لا کر دارالحجرت میں مقیم تھے یہ اُن لوگوں سے محبت کرتے ہیں جو ہجرت کر کے اِن کے پاس آئے ہیں اور جو کچھ بھی اُن کو دیدیا جائے اُس کی کوئی حاجت تک یہ اپنے دلوں میں محسوس نہیں کرتے اور اپنی ذات پر دوسروں کو ترجیح دیتے ہیں خواہ اپنی جگہ خود محتاج ہوں حقیقت یہ ہے کہ جو لوگ اپنے دل کی تنگی سے بچا لیے گئے وہی فلاح پانے والے ہیں

English - Sahih

And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

اور وہ (مال) ان کے لیے بھی ہے کہ جنہوں نے ان سے پہلے (مدینہ میں) گھر اور ایمان حاصل کر رکھا ہے جو ان کے پاس وطن چھوڑ کرآتا ہے اس سے محبت کرتے ہیں اور اپنے سینوں میں اس کی نسبت کوئی خلش نہیں پاتے جو مہاجرین کو دیا جائے اور وہ اپنی جانوں پر ترجیح دیتے ہیں اگرچہ ان پر فاقہ ہو اور جو اپنے نفس کے لالچ سے بچایا جائے پس وہی لوگ کامیاب ہیں

And those who settled (in) the home and (accepted) faith from before them love (those) who emigrated to them, and not they find in their breasts any want of what they were given but prefer over themselves, even though was with them poverty. And those who made their dwelling in the abode, and in belief, before them; love whosoever has emigrated to them, not finding in their breasts any need for what they have been given, and preferring others above themselves, even though poverty be their portion. And whoso is guarded against the avarice of his own soul, those -- they are the prosperers.

It also belongs to those who were already settled in this abode (of Hijrah) having come to faith before the (arrival of the) Muhajirun (Emigrants). They love those who have migrated to them and do not covet what has been given them; they even prefer them above themselves though poverty be their own lot. And whosoever are preserved from their own greed, such are the ones that will prosper.
