۞ قَالُوٓا۟ إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ ۚ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا ۖ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They said, ‘If he has stolen, a brother of his had also committed theft before.’ But Joseph kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He simply said, ‘You seem to be in the worst condition; and Allah knows best what you allege.’

انہوں نے کہا اگر اس نے چوری کی ہے تو اس کے ایک بھائی نے بھی اس سے پہلے چوری کی تھی تو یوسف نے اس (الزام کے اثر) کو اپنے دل میں چھپا لیا اور اُسے ان پر ظاہر نہ کیا۔ (ہاں دل ہی دل میں) کہا تم مقام کے لحاظ سے بدترین ہو اور اللہ ہی بہتر جانتا ہے جو تم بیان کرتے ہو۔

Ils dirent : « S’il a volé, un frère à lui a aussi volé auparavant. » Mais Joseph tint cela secret dans son cœur et ne le leur divulgua pas. Il dit simplement : « Vous êtes dans la pire des situations ; et Allāh sait le mieux ce que vous alléguez. »

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
انہوں نے (یعنی اس کے بھائیوں نے) کہا (کہ) اگر اس نے چوری کی ہو تو (کچھ عجب نہیں کیونکہ) اس کا ایک[1] بھائی (بھی) پہلے چوری کر چکا ہے۔ اس پر یوسف نے (اپنے دل کی بات کو) اپنے دل میں پوشیدہ رکھا۔ اور ان پر اسے ظاہر نہ کیا (ہاں دل میں اتنا) کہا (کہ) تم (لوگ) بڑے بدبخت ہو اور جو بات تم کہتے ہو اسے اللہ (ہی) بہتر جانتا ہے۔
چونکہ چھوٹا بھائی آیا تھا۔ بھائیوں نے اس ڈر سے یوسفؑ کو چور قرار دے دیا کہ کہیں یوسفؑ پوچھ نہ بیٹھے کہ بڑے بھائی کو کیوں نہیں لائے۔

They said, ‘If he has stolen, a brother of his had also committed theft before.’[1398] But Joseph kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He simply said, ‘You are in a worst condition; and Allah knows best what you allege.’
One sin leads to another. Joseph’s brothers had first sought to put him to death. Now quite unashamedly they hastened to accuse him of theft.

Commentary:
One sin leads to another. Joseph’s brothers had first sought to put him to death. Now quite unashamedly they hastened to accuse him of theft. Strangely enough, some commentators, instead of dismissing this baseless accusation as a malicious lie, start searching for some act of stealing in Joseph’s life and have gone so far as to declare that while a child he had stolen a few things from the house of his aunt.
The words, You seem to be in the worst condition, pathetically point to Joseph’s painful thought that, instead of repenting after their early lapse, his brothers had now become even more degenerate than before.

ان بھائیوں نے کہا "یہ چوری کرے تو کچھ تعجب کی بات بھی نہیں، اس سے پہلے اس کا بھائی (یوسفؑ) بھی چوری کر چکا ہے" یوسفؑ ان کی یہ بات سن کر پی گیا، حقیقت ان پر نہ کھولی بس (زیر لب) اتنا کہہ کر رہ گیا کہ "بڑے ہی برے ہو تم لوگ، (میرے منہ در منہ مجھ پر) جو الزام تم لگا رہے ہو اس کی حقیقت خدا خوب جانتا ہے"
English - Sahih
They said, "If he steals - a brother of his has stolen before." But Joseph kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them. He said, "You are worse in position, and Allah is most knowing of what you describe."

They said, 'If he is a thief, a brother of his was a thief before.' But Joseph secreted it in his soul and disclosed it not to them, saying, 'You are in a worse case; God knows very well what you are describing.'

They said: "No wonder that he steals for a brother of his stole before." But Joseph kept his reaction to himself without disclosing the truth to them. He merely said to himself: "You are an evil lot. Allah knows well the truth of the accusation that you are making against me (to my face)."

Commentary:
One sin leads to another. Joseph’s brothers had first sought to put him to death. Now quite unashamedly they hastened to accuse him of theft. اے نبی! جب مومن عورتیں تیرے پاس آئیں (اور) اس (امر) پر تیری بیعت کریں کہ وہ کسی کو اللہ کا شریک نہیں ٹھہرائیں گی اور نہ ہی چوری کریں گی اور نہ زنا کریں گی اور نہ اپنی اولاد کو قتل کریں گی اور نہ ہی (کسی پر) کوئی جھوٹا الزام لگائیں گی جسے وہ اپنے ہاتھوں اور پاؤں کے سامنے گھڑ لیں اور نہ ہی معروف (امور) میں تیری نافرمانی کریں گی تو تُو اُنکی بیعت قبول کر اور اُن کےلئے اللہ سے بخشش طلب کر۔ یقیناً اللہ بہت بخشنے والا (اور) بار بار رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Ô Prophète ! lorsque des croyantes viennent te prêter serment d’allégeance qu’elles n’associeront rien à Allāh, et qu’elles ne voleront pas, et ne commettront pas l’adultère, ni ne tueront leurs enfants, ni ne porteront de calomnie qu’elles auront elles mêmes inventée délibérément, ni ne te désobéiront en ce qui est juste, alors accepte leur allégeance et demande à Allāh de leur pardonner. En vérité, Allāh est Très-Pardonnant, Miséricordieux.

O Prophet! wenn gläubige Frauen zu dir kommen und dir den Treueid leisten, dass sie Allah nichts zur Seite stellen werden und dass sie weder stehlen noch Ehebruch begehen noch ihre Kinder töten noch eine Verleumdung vorbringen werden, die sie selbst wissentlich ersonnen, noch dir ungehorsam sein werden in dem, was recht ist, dann nimm ihren Treueid an und bitte Allah um Vergebung für sie. Wahrlich, Allah ist allvergebend, barmherzig.

先知啊! 当信仰的妇女来到你面前, 向你做忠顺誓约: 她们将不把任何东西当作与安拉的同等对象, 不偷窃, 不奸淫, 不杀害自己的子女, 不故意捏造诽谤的罪过, 不违背你善事的命令, 那么, 你就接受她们的忠顺誓约, 并求安拉宽恕她们。安拉确是最宽恕的, 永久仁慈的。

In verità, Allah è colui che sommamente perdona, il Misericordioso.

¡Oh, Profeta! Cuando las mujeres creyentes se presenten ante ti, jurando lealtad en tus manos de que no asociarán nada a Al-lah, y que no robarán, no cometerán adulterio, no matarán a sus hijos, no presentarán una acusación escandalosa que hayan inventado deliberadamente ellas mismas, ni te desobedecerán en lo que es justo, acepta su compromiso y pide a Al-lah que les perdone. En verdad Al-lah es el Sumo Indulgente, Misericordioso.

O Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging to you that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor will they steal, nor will they commit unlawful sexual intercourse, nor will they kill their children, nor will they bring forth a slander they have invented between their arms and legs, nor will they disobey you in what is right - then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

اے نبی جب آپ کے پاس ایمان والی عورتیں اس بات پر بیعت کرنے کو آئیں کہ الله کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ کرینگی اور نہ چوری کریں گی اور نہ زنا کریں گی اور نہ اپنی اولاد کو قتل کریں گی اور نہ بہتان کی اولاد لائیں گی جسے اپنے ہاتھوں اور پاؤں کے درمیان (نطفہٴ شوہر سے جنی ہوئی) بنا لیں اور نہ کسی نیک بات میں آپ کی نافرمانی کریں گی تو ان کی بیعت قبول کر اور ان کے لیے الله سے بخشش مانگ بے شک الله بخشنے والا نہایت رحم والا ہے
