اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یہ (لوگ) اس (قرآن) پر ایمان نہیں لاتے حالانکہ پہلوں (کے متعلق اللہ) کی سنت گذر چکی ہے۔

Commentary:

The evil habit of ridiculing God’s Prophets referred to in v. 12 results in the hardening of the heart and debars the mockers from believing in their Prophet in spite of seeing clear signs in his support. The verse means to say that such has been the end of the scoffers of the Prophets in the past and such will be the end of those who mock at the Holy Prophet now.

وہ اِس پر ایمان نہیں لایا کرتے قدیم سے اِس قماش کے لوگوں کا یہی طریقہ چلا آ رہا ہے

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور کسی چیز نے لوگوں کونہیں روکا کہ جب ہدایت ان کے پاس آجائے تو ایمان لے آئیں اور اپنے ربّ سے استغفار کریں سوائے اس کے کہ (وہ چاہتے تھے کہ) ان پر پہلوں کی تاریخ دہرائی جائے یا پھر ان کی طرف تیزی سے بڑھنے والا عذاب انہیں آ پکڑے۔

Et rien n’empêcha les gens de croire et de rechercher le pardon de leur Seigneur lorsque leur est parvenue la direction, sinon le fait qu’ils choisirent de suivre la voie empruntée par les peuples antérieurs avec les mêmes conséquences, ou qu’ils ont attendu que le châtiment d’Allāh les heurte de front.

اور ان لوگوں کو جب ان کے پاس ہدایت آئی تو (اس پر) ایمان لانے اور اپنے رب سے بخشش چاہنے سے صرف اس بات نے روکا کہ پہلے لوگوں کی سی حالت ان پر (بھی) آئے‘ یا پھر عذاب ان کے سامنے آکھڑا ہو۔

Commentary:

The Quran has explained all matters that concern man’s belief and conduct so completely and comprehensively that no room is left to an honest person but to accept truth and obey the Divine Call. But so perverse and wayward are disbelievers that they refuse to see reason and accept truth. Their obstinacy and hardness of heart seems to show that they will not be satisfied with anything but Divine punishment.

By the words سنة الاولین is meant the last and final Divine punishment which completely destroys disbelievers, while the expression اویاتیھم العذاب قبلا refers to intermediate punishments which come only to warn disbelievers and rouse them from their state of indifference and lethargy. The verse means to say that people to whom reference has been made in the foregoing verses will have both kinds of punishment.

اُن کے سامنے جب ہدایت آئی تو اسے ماننے اور اپنے رب کے حضور معافی چاہنے سے آخر اُن کوکس چیز نے روک دیا؟ اِس کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں کہ وہ منتظر ہیں کہ اُن کے ساتھ بھی وہی کچھ ہو جو پچھلی قوموں کے ساتھ ہو چکا ہے، یا یہ کہ وہ عذاب کو سامنے آتے دیکھ لیں!

And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.

اور جب ان کے پاس ہدایت آئی تو انہیں ایمان لانے اور اپنے رب سے معافی مانگنے سے کوئی چیز مانع نہیں ہوئی سوائے اس کے کہ انہیں پہلی امتوں کا سا معاملہ پیش آئے یا عذاب ان کے سامنے آجائے
