یَوۡمَ تَجِدُ کُلُّ نَفۡسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ مِنۡ خَیۡرٍ مُّحۡضَرًا وَّمَا عَمِلَتۡ مِنۡ سُوۡٓءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوۡ اَنَّ بَیۡنَہَا وَبَیۡنَہٗۤ اَمَدًۢا بَعِیۡدًا ۗ وَیُحَذِّرُکُمُ اللّٰہُ نَفۡسَہٗ ۗ وَاللّٰہُ رَءُوۡفٌۢ بِالۡعِبَادِ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Beware of the Day when every soul shall find itself confronted with all the good it has done and all the evil it has done. It will wish there were a great distance between it and that evil. And Allah cautions you against His punishment. And Allah is Most Compassionate to His servants.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
جس دن ہر جان جو نیکی بھی اُس نے کی ہوگی اُسے اپنے سامنے حاضر پائے گی اور اُس بدی کو بھی جو اُس نے کی ہوگی۔ وہ تمنا کرے گی کہ کاش اس کے اور اس (بدی) کے درمیان بہت دُور کا فاصلہ ہوتا۔ اور اللہ تمہیں اپنے آپ سے خبردار کرتا ہے۔ حالانکہ اللہ بندوں سے بہت مہربانی سے پیش آنے والا ہے۔
French
Prenez garde au Jour où chaque âme se trouvera confrontée à tout le bien qu’elle aura fait et à tout le mal qu’elle aura fait. Elle souhaitera qu’il y ait entre elle et ce mal une longue distance. Et Allāh vous met en garde contre Son châtiment, et Allāh est Compatissant envers Ses serviteurs.
German
(Denkt) an den Tag, wo jeder vor sich versammelt finden wird, was er an Gutem getan und was er an Bösem getan. Wünschen wird er, dass ein großer Abstand wäre zwischen ihm und jenem (Bösen). Allah warnt euch vor Seiner Strafe. Und Allah ist mild und gütig gegen die Diener.

Verrà il giorno in cui ogni anima sarà messa di fronte a tutto il bene che ha compiuto e a tutto il male che ha fatto. E allora vorrà che una grande distanza la separasse da quel male. E Allah vi mette in guardia contro il Suo castigo. E Allah è molto Compassionevole con i Suoi servi.

No olvidéis el Día en el que cada alma se encontrará frente a todo el bien que ha hecho y todo el mal que ha ometido. Desearía que hubiera una gran distancia entre ella y ese mal. Y Al-lah os previene de Su castigo. Y Al-lah es el Sumo Compasivo con Sus siervos
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
(اس دن سے ڈرو) جس دن ہر شخص ہر نیکی کو جو اس نے کی ہوگی (اپنے) سامنے موجود پائے گا اور جو بدی اس نے کی ہوگی اسے بھی۔ وہ خواہش کرے گا کہ کاش اس (بدی) کے اور اس کے درمیان لمبا فاصلہ ہوتا۔ اور اللہ تمہیں اپنے عذاب سے ڈراتا ہے اور اللہ بندوں پر شفقت کرنے والا ہے۔

رؤوف (Most Compassionate) is one of the attributes of God. It is derived from رأف meaning, he pitied him or had compassion on him; he pitied or compassionated him tenderly or in the utmost degree (Lane & Aqrab).

وہ دن آنے والا ہے، جب ہر نفس اپنے کیے کا پھل حاضر پائے گا خواہ اُس نے بھلائی کی ہو یا برائی اس روز آدمی یہ تمنا کرے گا کہ کاش ابھی یہ دن اس سے بہت دور ہوتا! اللہ تمہیں اپنے آپ سے ڈراتا ہے اور وہ اپنے بندوں کا نہایت خیر خواہ ہے

جس دن ہرشخص موجود پائے گا اپنے سامنے اس نیکی کو جو اس نے کی تھی اور جو کچھ کہ اس نے برائی کی تھی اس دن چاہے گا کہ کاش درمیان اس کے اور درمیان اس کی برائی کے مسافت دور کی ہو اور الله تمہیں اپنی ذات سے ڈراتا ہے اور الله بندوں پر شفقت کرنے والا ہے

English - Arberry
The day every soul shall find what it has done of good brought forward, and what it has done of evil; it will wish if there were only a far space between it and that day. God warns you that you beware of Him; and God is gentle with His servants.

The Day is approaching when every soul shall find itself confronted with whatever good it has done and whatever evil it has wrought. It will then wish there is a wide space between it and the Day! Allah warns you to beware of Him; He is most tender towards His servants.

کیا تُو نے ان لوگوں کے حال پر نظر کی ہے جو گمان کرتے ہیں کہ وہ اس پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں جو تجھ پر اتارا گیا اور اس پر بھی جو تجھ سے پہلے اتارا گیا۔ وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ فیصلے شیطان سے کروائیں جبکہ انہیں حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ وہ اس کا انکار کریں۔ اور شیطان یہ چاہتا ہے کہ وہ اُنہیں دُور کی گمراہی میں بہکا دے۔

N’as-tu pas entendu parler de ceux qui prétendent croire à ce qui t’a été révélé et à ce qui a été révélé avant toi ? Ils désirent demander un jugement du Malin, quoiqu’ils aient reçu l’ordre de le nier. Et Satan veut les conduire loin dans l’égarement.

Weißt du nicht von denen, die vorgeben zu glauben, was zu dir hinabgesandt worden und was vor dir hinabgesandt worden ist? Sie wollen den Rechtsspruch bei den Frevlern suchen, wiewohl ihnen befohlen ward, nicht auf jene zu hören; denn Satan will sie in die weite Irre führen.

¿No has visto a quienes pretenden creer en lo que te ha sido revelado y en lo revelado antes que a ti? Desean que los rebeldes dicten sentencia, aunque se les ordenó que no los obedecieran. Pero Satanás desea extraviarlos muy lejos.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
کیا تو نے ان لوگوں کا حال نہیں دیکھا جو دعویٰ کرتے ہیں کہ جو (کچھ) تیری طرف نازل کیا گیا ہے اور (نیز) جو تجھ سے پہلے نازل کیا گیا تھا وہ اس پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں اور باوجود اس کے کہ ان کو حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ سرکشوں[2] سے فیصلہ نہ کرائیں اور ان کے کہے پر نہ چلیں وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ انہی سے فیصلہ کرائیں کیونکہ شیطان چاہتا ہے کہ انہیں خطرناک گمراہی میں ڈال دے۔
یہ آیت منافقوں کے متعلق ہے جو رسولِ کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے فیصلہ کروانے کی بجائے دوسرے لوگوں کے فیصلہ کو پسند کرتے تھے۔

Hast thou not seen those who assert that they believe in what has been revealed to thee and what has been revealed before thee? They desire to seek judgment from the Evil One, although they were commanded not to obey him. And Satan desires to lead them far astray.

Dost thou not know of those who pretend that they believe in what has been revealed to thee and what has been revealed before thee? They desire to seek judgement from the rebellious, although they were commanded not to obey them. And Satan desires to lead them astray far away from the right path.[534]

The words, They desire to seek judgement from the rebellious, need not be taken as referring to any particular incident; they speak of a general tendency among hypocrites.

اے نبیؐ! تم نے دیکھا نہیں اُن لوگوں کو جو دعویٰ تو کرتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لائے ہیں اُس کتاب پر جو تمہاری طرف نازل کی گئی ہے اور ان کتابوں پر جو تم سے پہلے نازل کی گئی تھیں، مگر چاہتے یہ ہیں کہ اپنے معاملات کا فیصلہ کرانے کے لیے طاغوت کی طرف رجوع کریں، حالانکہ انہیں طاغوت سے کفر کرنے کا حکم دیا گیا تھا شیطان انہیں بھٹکا کر راہ راست سے بہت دور لے جانا چاہتا ہے

Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut, while they were commanded to reject it; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray.

کیا تم لوگوں نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جواس چیز پر ایمان لانے کا دعویٰ کرتے ہیں جو تجھ پر نازل کی گئی ہے اور جو چیز تم سےپہلے نازل کی گئی ہے وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ اپنا فیصلہ شیطان سے کرائیں حالانکہ انہیں حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ اسے نہ مانیں اور شیطان تو چاہتا ہے کہ انہیں بہکا کر دو رجا ڈالے

Allāh ne pardonnera pas qu’on Lui donne des associés, mais à part cela, Il pardonnera à qui Il veut. Et quiconque donne des associés à Allāh s’est en vérité égaré bien loin.

اللہ اس (گناہ) کو ہرگز نہیں بخشے گا کہ اس کا (کسی کو) شریک بنایا جائے اور جو (گناہ) اس سے ادنیٰ ہوگا (اسے) جس کے حق میں چاہے گا معاف کر دے گا اور جو شخص (کسی کو) اللہ کا شریک بنائے تو (سمجھو کہ) وہ (سیدھے راستہ سے) بہت دور جا پڑا۔

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.

God forgives not that aught should be with Him associated; less than that He forgives to whomsoever He will. Whoso associates with God anything, has gone astray into far error.

Truly it is only associating others with Allah in His divinity that Allah does not forgive, and forgives anything besides that to whomsoever He wills. Whoever associates others with Allah in His divinity has indeed strayed far away.

O ye who believe! believe in Allah and His Messenger, and in the Book which He has revealed to His Messenger, and the Book which He revealed before it. And whoso disbelieves in Allah and His angels, and His Books, and His Messengers, and the Last Day, has surely strayed far away.

Commentary:
In the clause: O ye who believe, believe in Allah and His Messenger… the first-mentioned belief refers to lip-profession and the second to true and genuine belief which really matters. The words thus show that sometimes expressions like "O ye who believe" or "believers" may be used for those who profess to be believers in Islam but do not live up to its teachings by carrying out faithfully its precepts into practice. Their assertion is a mere lip-profession that carries no weight.
