وَاَنۡذِرِ النَّاسَ یَوۡمَ یَاۡتِیۡہِمُ الۡعَذَابُ فَیَقُوۡلُ الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اَخِّرۡنَاۤ اِلٰۤی اَجَلٍ قَرِیۡبٍ نُّجِبۡ دَعۡوَتَکَ وَنَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ۗ اَوَلَمۡ تَکُوۡنُوۡۤا اَقۡسَمۡتُمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ مَا لَکُمۡ مِّنۡ زَوَالٍ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And warn men of the day when the promised chastisement will come upon them, and the wrongdoers will say, ‘Our Lord, grant us respite for a short term. We will respond to Thy call and will follow the Messengers.’ ‘Did you not swear before this that you would have no fall?
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈرا جس دن اُن پر عذاب آئے گا تو وہ لوگ جنہوں نے ظلم کئے کہیں گے کہ اے ہمارے ربّ! ہمیں تھوڑی سی مدت تک مہلت دے ہم تیری دعوت قبول کریں گے اور رسولوں کی پیروی کریں گے۔ کیا تم اس سے پہلے قسمیں نہیں کھایا کرتے تھے کہ تم پر کوئی زوال نہیں آئے گا۔

Et avertis les hommes du jour où le châtiment promis tombera sur eux et les injustes diront : « Notre Seigneur, accorde-nous un court délai. Nous répondrons à Ton appel, et suivrons les Messagers. » Il dira : « N’aviez-vous pas juré avant ceci que vous ne connaîtriez aucune dégringolade ?

Advierte a los hombres a propósito del día en que les llegará el castigo prometido, cuando los inicuos dirán: “Señor nuestro, concédenos un respiro durante un breve plazo. Responderemos a Tu lamada y seguiremos a los Mensajeros”. “¿No jurasteis antes de esto que no caeríais?”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور تو ان لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈرا جب ان پر وہ عذاب آئے گا (جس کا وعدہ کیا گیا ہے) جن لوگوں نے ظلم (کا شیوہ اختیار) کیا ہوگا (اس وقت) کہیں گے (کہ اے) ہمارے رب! ہمارے معاملہ کو کسی (اور) قریب میعاد تک (کے لئے) پیچھے ڈال دے کہ ہم تیری طرف سے آئی ہوئی دعوت کو قبول کریں گے اور (تیرے) رسولوں کی پیروی کریں گے (جس پر انہیں جواب ملے گا کہ کیا ابھی اتمام حجت میں کوئی کسر باقی ہے؟) اور کیا تم نے پہلے قسم (پر قسم) نہیں کھائی تھی کہ تم پر کسی طرح کا زوال نہیں (آئے گا) ۔

And warn people of the day when the promised chastisement will come upon them, and [d]the wrongdoers will say, ‘Our Lord, grant us respite for a short term, we will respond to Thy call and will follow the Messengers.’ He will say, ‘Did you not swear before this that you would never have a fall?

Commentary:
This verse speaks of the punishment that is to overtake disbelievers in the life to come. Whenever the Quran speaks of the punishment of the present life, it usually refers to the punishment of the next life also, for the former constitutes evidence of the latter.
The words, Did you not swear before this that you would have no fall? show that disbelievers were confident that their prosperity would endure forever. This led to their becoming haughty and arrogant.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
اے محمدؐ، اُس دن سے تم اِنہیں ڈراؤ جبکہ عذاب اِنہیں آلے گا اُس وقت یہ ظالم کہیں گے کہ "اے ہمارے رب، ہمیں تھوڑی سی مہلت اور دے دے، ہم تیری دعوت کو لبیک کہیں گے اور رسولوں کی پیروی کریں گے" (مگر انہیں صاف جواب دے دیا جائے گا کہ) کیا تم وہی لوگ نہیں ہو جو اِس سے پہلے قسمیں کھا کھا کر کہتے تھے کہ ہم پر تو کبھی زوال آنا ہی نہیں ہے؟
English - Sahih
And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

اور لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈراوے کہ ان پر عذاب آئے گا تب ظالم کہیں گے اے رب ہمارے! ہمیں تھوڑی مدت تک مہلت دے کہ ہم تیرا بلانا قبول کر لیں اور رسولوں کی پیروی کر لیں کیاتم نے پہلے قسم نہیں کھائی تھی کہ تمہیں کہیں جانا ہی نہیں ہے

Commentary:
