17:76

إِذًا لَّأَذَقْنَٰكَ ضِعْفَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ وَضِعْفَ ٱلْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيرًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

In that case We would have made thee taste similar afflictions of life and similar afflictions of death, and then thou wouldst not have found for thyself any helper against Us.

پھر ہم ضرور تجھے زندگی کا بھی دُہرا عذاب چکھاتے اور موت کا بھی دُہرا عذاب۔ تب تُو ہمارے خلاف اپنے لئے کوئی مددگار نہ پاتا۔

French

Dans ce cas, Nous t’aurions fait goûter le double châtiment de cette vie et le double châtiment de la mort, et alors tu n’aurais trouvé pour toi-même aucun aide contre Nous.

German

Dann hätten Wir dich Doppeltes im Leben und Doppeltes im Tode auskosten lassen und du hättest dir keinen Helfer wider Uns gefunden.

(如果像他们所设想的, 你是借我的名义的捏造者,) 那么, 我一定使你尝受今生的重刑和后世的重刑。你将得不到任何帮助来反抗我的。

In quel caso Noi ti avremmo fatto gustare simili afflizioni nella vita e simili afflizioni nella morte. E allora tu non avresti trovato nessuno che ti aiutasse contro di Noi.

Spanish

En ese caso, te habríamos hecho probar aflicciones imilares en la vida y aflicciones similares en la muerte, y no habrías encontrado para ti socorredor alguno contra Nosotros.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اور اگر جیسا کہ ان کا خیال ہے تو ہم پر افترا باندھنے والا ہوتا) تو اس صورت میں ہم تجھے زندگی کا بڑا عذاب اور موت کا بڑا عذاب چکھاتے (اور) پھر تو ہمارے مقابل پر اپنا کوئی (بھی) مددگار نہ پاتا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

But if, as they imagine, thou hadst been one to forge a lie against Us, then We would have made thee taste a heavy punishment in life and a heavy punishment in death, and then thou wouldst not have found for thyself any helper against Us.

English - Five Volume Translation

In that case We would have made thee taste similar afflictions of life and similar afflictions of death, and then thou wouldst not have found for thyself any helper against Us.[2005]

Commentary:

The verse purports to say that if in the absence of the revelation of the Quran, the Prophet should have inclined to disbelievers, his inclination towards them would have done them no good and would not have saved them from Divine punishment. The verse drives home the supreme truth that all the Prophet’s greatness was due to his being the recipient of Divine revelation; without such revelation he was no more than an ordinary mortal.

لیکن اگر تم ایسا کرتے تو ہم تمہیں دنیا میں بھی دوہرے عذاب کا مزہ چکھاتے اور آخرت میں بھی دوہرے عذاب کا، پھر ہمارے مقابلے میں تم کوئی مددگار نہ پاتے

English - Sahih

Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper.

اس وقت ہم تجھے زندگی میں اور موت کے بعد دہرا عذاب چکھاتے پھر تو اپنے واسطے ہمارے مقابلے میں کوئی مددگار نہ پاتا

Then We (would) have made you taste double (in) the life, and double (after) the death. Then not you (would) have found for you against Us any helper.

then would We have let thee taste the double of life and the double of death; and then thou wouldst have found none to help thee against Us.

whereupon We would have made you taste double (the chastisement) in the world and double (the chastisement) after death, and then you would have found none to help you against Us.

In that case We would have made you taste a double anguish of life and a double anguish of death, and then you would not have been able to find a helper against Us for yourself.

In that case We should have made thee taste an equal portion (of punishment) in this life, and an equal portion in death: and moreover thou wouldst have found none to help thee against Us!
