وَلَوۡلَاۤ اِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوۡہُ قُلۡتُمۡ مَّا یَکُوۡنُ لَنَاۤ اَنۡ نَّتَکَلَّمَ بِہٰذَا سُبۡحٰنَکَ ہٰذَا بُہۡتٰنٌ عَظِیۡمٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And wherefore did you not say, when you heard of it, ‘It is not proper for us to talk about it. Holy art Thou, O God, this is a grievous calumny!’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور ایسا کیوں نہ ہوا کہ جب تم نے اسے سُنا تو تم کہہ دیتے ہمیں کوئی حق نہیں کہ ہم اس معاملے میں زبان کھولیں۔ پاک ہے تُو (اے اللہ!)۔ یہ تو ایک بہت بڑا بہتان ہے۔

French

Et pourquoi, quand vous l’avez apprise, n’avez-vous pas dit : « Il ne nous convient pas d’en parler. Saint es-Tu, ô Allāh, ceci est une grave calomnie ! » ?

Und warum sprachet ihr nicht, als ihr es hörtet: "Es kommt uns nicht zu, darüber zu reden. Heilig bist Du! Dies ist eine arge Verleumdung."?

当你们听见谎言时, 为什么没马上说: “我们不应该传述这种话。安拉啊! 你是清高的。这是一个极大的诽谤。”

Italian

E perché, quando ne sentiste parlare, non diceste: «Non spetta a noi parlarne. Santo sei Tu, o Dio, questa è una grave calunnia»?

Spanish

¿Y por qué no dijisteis, cuando lo oísteis: "no nos corresponde hablar sobre ello. ¡Santo eres Tú, oh Dios, ésta es una grave calumnia!"

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور کیوں نہ ہوا کہ جب تم نے اس بات کو سنا تھا تو فوراً کہہ دیا کہ یہ ہمارا کام نہیں کہ ہم اس بات کو آگے دہرائیں‘ اے خدا تو پاک ہے یہ بہت بڑا بہتان ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And wherefore did you not say, when you heard of it, ‘It is not proper for us to talk about it. Holy art Thou, O God, this is a grievous calumny.’

English - Five Volume Translation

And wherefore did you not say, when you heard of it, ‘It is not proper for us to talk about it. Holy art Thou, O God, this is a grievous calumny!’

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کیوں نہ اُسے سنتے ہی تم نے کہہ دیا کہ "ہمیں ایسی بات زبان سے نکالنا زیب نہیں دیتا، سبحان اللہ، یہ تو ایک بہتان عظیم ہے"

English - Sahih

And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah]; this is a great slander"?

اور جب تم نے اسے سنا تھا تو کیوں نہ کہہ دیا کہ ہمیں تو اس کا منہ سے نکالنا بھی لائق نہیں سبحان الله یہ بڑا بہتان ہے

And why, when you heard it, did you not say, 'It is not for us to speak about this; glory be to Thee! This is a mighty calumny'?

Why did you not, as soon as you heard of it, say, "It is not proper for us to utter such a thing? Glory be to Allah! This is a great slander."
