28:64

قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَغْوَيْنَآ أَغْوَيْنَٰهُمْ كَمَا غَوَيْنَا ۖ تَبَرَّأْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ۖ مَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Those against whom the sentence will become due, will say, ‘Our Lord, these are those whom we led astray. We led them astray, even as we had gone astray ourselves. We now dissociate ourselves from them and turn to Thee. It was not us that they worshipped.’

وہ جن پر فرمان صادق آ چکا ہو گا کہیں گے اے ہمارے ربّ! یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جنہیں ہم نے گمراہ کیا۔ ہم نے اُن کو گمراہ کیا جیسے ہم خود گمراہ ہوئے۔ بےزاری کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے (اب) ہم تیری طرف آتے ہیں۔ یہ ہرگز ہماری عبادت نہیں کیا کرتے تھے۔

French

Ceux qui sont passibles de la sentence diront : « Notre Seigneur, voici ceux que nous avons égarés. Nous les avons égarés tout comme nous nous étions égarés nous-mêmes. Maintenant nous nous dissocions d’eux, et nous nous tournons vers Toi. Ce n’est pas nous qu’ils adoraient. »

German

Diejenigen, über die der Spruch fällig ist, werden sprechen: "Unser Herr, dies sind jene, die wir irreführten. Wir führten sie irre, wie wir selbst irregingen. Wir sprechen uns los vor Dir. Nicht wir waren es, die sie anbeteten."

那些被判刑的人将说: [e]“我们的养主啊! 这些是我们使他们迷误的人, 我们使他们迷误了, 正如我们 (自己) 也迷误了一样。(今天) 我们杜绝 (他们而) 归向你, [f]那些人原不曾崇拜我们, (只是追随自己的思想。)”

Allora quelli, contro i quali la sentenza di castigo sarà applicata, diranno: «Signore nostro, questi sono coloro che noi facemmo fuorviare. Noi li fuorviammo, così come noi stessi avevamo fuorviato. Ora noi ci dissociamo da loro e ci volgiamo a Te. Essi non hanno adorato noi.»

Spanish

Aquellos contra quienes se vaya a dictar sentencia dirán: “Señor nuestro, éstos son aquellos a quienes extraviamos. Los extraviamos al igual que nos extraviamos nosotros mismos. Ahora nos separamos de ellos y volvemos a Ti. No era a nosotros a quienes adoraban”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(تب) جن پر ہمارے عذاب کی خبر پوری ہو چکی[1] ہوگی کہیں گے اے ہمارے رب! یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جن کو ہم نے بہکایا تھا۔ ہم نے ان کو اسی طرح بہکایا تھا جس طرح ہم خود بہک گئے تھے۔ آج ہم تیرے پاس اپنی گمراہی سے برأت ظاہرکرتے ہیں۔ وہ لوگ ہمارے عبادت گزار نہیں تھے (بلکہ اپنے خیالوں کے پیچھے چلتے تھے) ۔

یعنی یا تو وہ موت کے بعد دوزخ میں جا چکے ہوں گے یا اس دنیا میں ان پر عذاب نازل ہو چکا ہوگا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Then those, against whom the sentence of punishment will have become due, will say, [b]‘Our Lord, these are those whom we led astray. We led them astray even as we had gone astray ourselves. We now dissociate ourselves from them and turn to Thee. [c]It was not us that they worshipped.’

Commentary:

The words, "those against whom the sentence will have become due," refer to the leaders of disbelief whom the misguided people blindly follow. Or the words may apply only to those associate-gods who themselves will be under Divine punishment and not to all those whom the idolaters worshipped because some of the righteous and God-fearing men have also been made the object of worship by their misguided followers.

The words, "it was not us they worshipped," mean that the leaders of disbelief would say that their so-called followers did not worship them but only their own ideas and fancies, i.e. it was because of their own false and foolish beliefs that they were led astray from the path of truth and righteousness.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

یہ قول جن پر چسپاں ہو گا وہ کہیں گے "اے ہمارے رب، بے شک یہی لوگ ہیں جن کو ہم نے گمراہ کیا تھا، اِنہیں ہم نے اُسی طرح گمراہ کیا جیسے ہم خود گمراہ ہوئے ہم آپ کے سامنے براءت کا اظہار کرتے ہیں یہ ہماری تو بندگی نہیں کرتے تھے"

English - Sahih

Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship us."

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

جن پر الزام قائم ہو گا وہ کہیں گے اے رب ہمارے! وہ یہی ہیں جنہیں ہم نے بہکایا تھا انہیں ہم نے گمرا کیا تھا جیسا کہ ہم گمراہ تھے ہم تیرے رو برو بیزار ہوتے ہیں یہ ہمیں نہیں پوجتے تھے

English - Talal Itani

(Will) say those - (has) come true against whom the Word, "Our Lord! These (are) those whom we led astray. We led them astray as we were astray. We declare our innocence before You. Not they used (to) worship us."

Those against whom the Word is realized they shall say, 'Our Lord, those whom we perverted, we perverted them even as we ourselves erred. We declare our innocence unto Thee; it was not us that they were serving.'

English - Maududi

Those against whom the Word will be realised will say: "Our Lord, these are the ones whom we led astray just as we ourselves strayed. We absolve ourselves before You of all blame. It was not us that they worshipped."

English - Ahmed Ali

Those against whom the sentence is justified will say: "O Lord, these are those we had led astray as we had ourselves gone astray. We clear ourselves before You: They never worshipped us."

English - Yusuf Ali

Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say: "Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray, as we were astray ourselves: we free ourselves (from them) in Thy presence: it was not us they worshipped."
