28:87

وَمَا کُنۡتَ تَرۡجُوۡۤا اَنۡ یُّلۡقٰۤی اِلَیۡکَ الۡکِتٰبُ اِلَّا رَحۡمَۃً مِّنۡ رَّبِّکَ ۖ فَلَا تَکُوۡنَنَّ ظَہِیۡرًا لِّلۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And thou didst never expect that the Book would be revealed to thee; but it is a mercy from thy Lord; so never be a helper of those who disbelieve.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور تُو کوئی خواہش نہیں رکھتا تھا کہ تجھے کتاب عطا کی جائے مگر (یہ) تیرے ربّ کی طرف سے بطور رحمت ہے۔ پس کافروں کا ہرگز مددگار نہ بن۔

French

Et tu ne t’attendais jamais à ce que le Livre te soit révélé ; mais c’est une miséricorde de la part de ton Seigneur ; ne sois donc jamais un soutien pour ceux qui refusent de croire.

German

Und du hattest selbst keine Hoffnung, dass dir das Buch offenbart würde; allein es ist eine Barmherzigkeit von deinem Herrn; darum sei den Ungläubigen nie ein Beistand.

Chinese

你原未仰望你将受降一部 (完善的) 天经, [e]但这是出自你养主的仁慈, 所以你永远不要做不信者的帮手。

17:88.

Italian

E tu non ti eri aspettavi mai che il libro venisse rivelato a te; ma si tratta di una misericordia del tuo Signore. Quindi, non essere mai d'aiuto a quelli che non credono.

Spanish

Y nunca esperaste que el Libro te fuese revelado; sino que se trata de una misericordia de tu Señor; no seas, pues, ayudante de quienes no creen.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور تو (کوئی) امید نہیں رکھتا تھا کہ تجھ پر ایک مکمل کتاب نازل کی جائے گی مگر تیرے رب کی طرف سے رحمت کے طور پر ایسا ہوا۔ پس تو کافروں کا مددگار کبھی نہ بنیئو۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And thou didst never expect that the Book would be revealed to thee; [b]but it is a mercy from thy Lord; so never be a helper of disbelievers.

17:88.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

تم اس بات کے ہرگز امیدوار نہ تھے کہ تم پر کتاب نازل کی جائے گی، یہ تو محض تمہارے رب کی مہربانی سے (تم پر نازل ہوئی ہے)، پس تم کافروں کے مدد گار نہ بنو

English - Sahih

And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور تمہیں امید نہ تھی کہ تم پر کتاب اتاری جائے گی مگر تمہارے رب کی مہربانی ہوئی پھر تم کافروں کی طرفداری نہ کرنا

And not you were expecting that would be sent down to you the Book, except (as) a mercy from your Lord. So (do) not be an assistant to the disbelievers.

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

English - Arberry

Thou didst not hope that the Book should be cast unto thee, except it be as a mercy from thy Lord; so be thou not a partisan of the unbelievers.

English - Maududi

(O Prophet), you never looked forward for the Book to be revealed to you. It is out of sheer Mercy of your Lord that it was (revealed to you). So do not lend any support to the unbelievers.

You did not expect that the Book would be given to you except by the favour of your Lord. So do not be the helper of unbelievers,

English - Yusuf Ali

And thou hadst not expected that the Book would be sent to thee except as a Mercy from thy Lord: Therefore lend not thou support in any way to those who reject (Allah's Message).
