34:22

وَمَا کَانَ لَہٗ عَلَیۡہِمۡ مِّنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍ اِلَّا لِنَعۡلَمَ مَنۡ یُّؤۡمِنُ بِالۡاٰخِرَۃِ مِمَّنۡ ہُوَ مِنۡہَا فِیۡ شَکٍّ ۗ وَرَبُّکَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیۡءٍ حَفِیۡظٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And he had no power over them, but it was so that We might distinguish those who believed in the Hereafter from those who were in doubt about it. And thy Lord is Watchful over all things.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور اُسے اُن پر کوئی غلبہ نہیں تھا مگر ہم یہ چاہتے تھے کہ اُسے جو آخرت پر ایمان لاتا ہے اُس سے ممتاز کردیں جو اُس کے بارہ میں شک میں (مبتلا) ہے اور تیرا ربّ ہر چیز پر حفیظ ہے۔

French

Et il n’avait aucun pouvoir sur eux, mais Nous voulions ainsi distinguer ceux qui croyaient à l’au-delà de ceux qui en doutaient. Et ton Seigneur est Vigilant sur toutes choses.

German

Und er hatte keine Macht über sie, allein Wir wünschten denjenigen, der ans Jenseits glaubte, vor dem auszuzeichnen, der Zweifel darüber hegte. Und dein Herr ist wachsam über alle Dinge.

[b]他原没有控制他们的力量[1046], 这只是为了我要辨别谁是信仰后世的, 谁是对它怀疑的。你的养主是保护万物者。

34:22.

恶魔对人类并不能行使权力。人类精神毁灭是由于他们自己的错误信念和邪恶行为。

Italian

Ed egli non aveva potere su di loro, ma fu così perché Noi potessimo distinguere quelli che credevano nell'Aldilà da quelli che ne dubitavano. E il tuo Signore sorveglia tutte le cose.

Spanish

Y no tenía poder sobre ellos, pero ocurrió así para que pudiéramos distinguir a los que creían en el Más Allá de los que dudaban sobre él. Pues tu Señor es Vigilante de todas las cosas.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

حالانکہ اس (یعنی شیطان) کو ان پر کوئی قبضہ حاصل نہیں تھا یہ صرف اس لئے ہوا کہ تا ہم ان کو جو آخرت پر ایمان لانے والے ہیں ان کے مقابلہ میں جو آخرت پر شک رکھتے ہیں ممتاز کرکے ان کی اندرونی حقیقت کھول دیں۔ اور تیرا رب ہر چیز کا نگران ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]And he had no power over them,[2388] but it was so that We might distinguish those who believed in the Hereafter from those who were in doubt about it. And thy Lord is Watchful over all things.

34:22.

Satan has no authority over man. It is by his own wrong beliefs and evil deeds that man brings about his spiritual ruin.

English - Five Volume Translation

[a]And he had no power over them, but it was so that We might distinguish those who believed in the Hereafter from those who were in doubt about it. And thy Lord is Watchful over all things.[3148]

15:43; 16:100.

Commentary:

The verse clearly and positively removes all doubts or misgivings as to the extent of the authority and control of Satan over men. According to it Satan has definitely no authority over man. It is by his own wrong beliefs and evil deeds that man brings about his spiritual ruin.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

ابلیس کو اُن پر کوئی اقتدار حاصل نہ تھا مگر جو کچھ ہوا وہ اس لیے ہوا کہ ہم یہ دیکھنا چاہتے تھے کہ کون آخرت کا ماننے والا ہے اور کون اس کی طرف سے شک میں پڑا ہوا ہے تیرا رب ہر چیز پر نگران ہے

English - Sahih

And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt. And your Lord, over all things, is Guardian.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

حالانکہ ان پر اس کا کوئی زور بھی نہیں تھا مگر یہی کہ ہم نے ظاہر کرنا تھا کون آخرت پر ایمان لاتا ہے اورکون اس سے شک میں پڑا ہوا ہے اور تیرا رب ہر چیز پر نگہبان ہے

English - Talal Itani

And not was for him over them any authority except that We (might) make evident who believes in the Hereafter from (one) who [he] about it (is) in doubt. And your Lord over all things (is) a Guardian.

English - Arberry

Yet he had no authority over them, but that We might know him who believed in the Hereafter from him who was in doubt thereof Thy Lord is Guardian over everything.

English - Maududi

Iblis had no authority over them and whatever happened was in order that We might know him who believes in the Hereafter as distinct from him who is in doubt about it. Your Lord is watchful over everything.

He had no authority over them save for the purpose of Our knowing who believed in the world to come, and who doubted it. For your Lord keeps a watch over everything.

But he had no authority over them,- except that We might test the man who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt concerning it: and thy Lord doth watch over all things.
