فَسَاہَمَ فَکَانَ مِنَ الۡمُدۡحَضِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And he cast lots with the crew of the ship and was of the losers.

پھر اس نے قرعہ نکالا تو وہ باہر دھکیل دیئے جانے والوں میں سے ہوگیا۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اور طوفان نے ان کو آلیا اور ڈوبنے کا خطرہ پیدا ہو گیا) تب انہوں نے (باقی سب سواروں سے مل کر) قرعہ اندازی کی اور (چونکہ قرعہ میں ان کا نام نکلا) وہ (قرعہ کی رو سے) دریا میں پھینکے جانے والے ہو گئے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And he cast lots with the crew of the ship and was of the losers.

English - Five Volume Translation

And he cast lots with the crew of the ship and was of the losers.[3355]

Important Words:

ساھم (cast lots) is derived from سھم.They say سھمه i.e. he overcame him in the game of shooting arrows. ساھمه means, he shot arrows with him in competition; he cast or drew lots with him. ساھمته فسھمته means, I competed with him in casting lots or in shooting arrows and overcame him therein (Aqrab & Lane).

پھر قرعہ اندازی میں شریک ہوا اور اس میں مات کھائی
