إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًۢا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Those who believe, then disbelieve, then again believe, then disbelieve, and then increase in disbelief, Allah will never forgive them nor will He guide them to the way.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یقیناً وہ لوگ جو ایمان لائے پھر انکار کر دیا پھر ایمان لائے پھر انکار کر دیا پھر کفر میں بڑھتے چلے گئے، اللہ ایسا نہیں کہ انہیں معاف کردے اور انہیں راستہ کی ہدایت دے۔

French

En vérité, ceux qui croient et qui ensuite perdent la foi, puis croient de nouveau et reperdent la foi et dont la mécréance augmente, Allāh n’est pas Tel qu’Il leur pardonnera, et Il ne les guidera pas non plus sur le droit chemin.

German

Die aber glaubten und hernach ungläubig wurden, dann (wieder) glaubten, dann abermals ungläubig wurden und noch zunahmen im Unglauben, denen wird Allah nimmermehr vergeben noch sie des Weges leiten.

Chinese

[d]凡信后又不信的人, 继而再信, 最后又不信了, 并且增加了不信的程度, 安拉将永不宽恕他们, 也将永不领导他们 (得救) 的道路。

Coloro che credono, poi non credono, quindi credono di nuovo, poi non credono e infine aumentano la propria miscredenza, Allah non li perdonerà mai né li guiderà per la via.

Spanish

A quienes creen, dejan de creer, creen de nuevo, otra vez dejan de creer y luego aumentan en su incredulidad, Al-lah nunca los perdonará ni los guiará al camino recto.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے پھر انہوں نے انکار کر دیا‘ پھر ایمان لائے پھر انکار کر دیا۔ پھر کفر میں (اور بھی) بڑھ گئے۔ اللہ انہیں ہرگز معاف نہیں کر سکتا اور نہ انہیں (نجات کا) کوئی راستہ دکھا سکتا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[d]Those who believe, then disbelieve, then again believe, then disbelieve and then increase in disbelief,[684] Allah will never forgive them nor will He guide them to the right way.

3:91; 63:4.

The verse incidentally refutes the baseless allegation that apostasy in Islam is punishable with death.

Commentary:

The verse incidentally refutes the allegation that apostasy in Islam is punishable with death. If such had been the law of Islam, apostates would have had no opportunity of apostatizing from Islam again and again, as appears from this verse. For an exposition of the teachings of Islam about apostasy see "Islam and the Law relating to Apostasy" (published from Qadian).

The verse does not signify that after so many successive acts of apostasy the repentance of an apostate is not accepted. Rather it is intended to point out that even after repeated acts of apostasy the door of repentance remains open. That door is closed only when, after apostatizing, an apostate goes on "increasing in disbelief" as the verse clearly puts it.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

رہے وہ لوگ جو ایمان لائے، پھر کفر کیا، پھر ایمان لائے، پھر کفر کیا، پھر اپنے کفر میں بڑھتے چلے گئے، تو اللہ ہرگز ان کو معاف نہ کرے گا اور نہ کبھی اُن کو راہ راست دکھائے گا

English - Sahih

Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way.

بے شک وہ لوگ جو ایمان لائے پھر کفر کیا پھر ایمان لائے پھر کفر کیا پھر کفر میں بڑھتے رہے تو الله ان کو ہرگز نہیں بخشے گا اور نہ انہیں راہ دکھائے گا

Indeed, those who believed, then disbelieved, then (again) believed, then disbelieved, then increased (in) disbelief - not will Allah forgive [for] them and not will guide them (to) a (right) way.

English - Arberry

Those who believe, and then disbelieve, and then believe, and then disbelieve, and then increase in unbelief-God is not likely to forgive them, neither to guide them on any way.

Allah will neither forgive nor show the right way to those who believed, and then disbelieved, then believed, and again disbelieved, and thenceforth became ever more intense in their disbelief.

Those who accept the faith, then disbelieve, then return to it, and deny once again and increase in disbelief, will not be forgiven by God or be guided by Him.
