وَلَقَدِ اخۡتَرۡنٰہُمۡ عَلٰی عِلۡمٍ عَلَی الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And We chose them knowingly above the peoples of their time.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور یقیناً ہم نے ان کو کسی علم کی وجہ سے سب جہانوں پر ترجیح دی تھی۔

French

Et Nous les avons élus expressément au-dessus des peuples de leur époque.

German

Und Wir erwählten sie, auf Grund (Unseres) Wissens, vor den Völkern.

我按照对他们 (优点) 的认识, 从世界所有民族中选择了他们。

E Noi li scegliemmo consapevolmente al di sopra dei popoli del loro tempo.

Los elegimos conociendo sus méritos, por encima de otros pueblos de su época.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو اپنے زمانہ کی تمام قوموں پر ان کے حالات کی بنا پر فضیلت دی تھی۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And We chose them above the peoples of their time, knowingly.[2699]

God chose the Israelites for His favours because in the Divine scheme of things they were found to be most suited to carry on the Divine mission at that time. The expression, ‘Ala ‘Ilmin, may also signify, in view of their special circumstances.

And We chose them knowingly above the peoples of their time.[3715]

Commentary:

God selected the Israelites for His favours because in the divine scheme of things, they were found to be most suited for carrying on the divine mission at that time.

اور اُن کی حالت جانتے ہوئے، اُن کو دنیا کی دوسری قوموں پر ترجیح دی

And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.
