۞ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ دَمَّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَٰلُهَا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Have they not travelled in the earth and seen what was the end of those who were before them? Allah utterly destroyed them, and for the disbelievers there will be the like thereof.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس کیا وہ زمین میں پھرے نہیں کہ نتیجتاً وہ دیکھ لیتے کہ ان سے پہلے لوگوں کا کیسا انجام تھا۔ اللہ نے ان پر ہلاکت کی مار ڈالی اور (اِن) کافروں سے بھی اُن جیسا ہی سلوک ہوگا ۔

French

N’ont-ils pas parcouru la terre et vu quelle a été la fin de leurs devanciers ? Allāh les a complètement anéantis, et il en sera de même pour les mécréants.

German

Sind sie nicht auf der Erde umhergereist, um zu sehen, wie das Ende derer war, die vor ihnen waren? Allah richtete sie zugrunde, und für die Ungläubigen ist das gleiche wie ihnen bestimmt.

Chinese

[a]难道他们未曾在大地上旅行并观察在他们之前人们的结局如何? 安拉 (完全) 毁灭了他们。不信的人们将有同样的(结局)。

Italian

Non sono forse andati in giro per il mondo, per vedere quale fu la fine di quelli che furono prima di loro? Allah li distrusse completamente, e per i miscredenti ci sarà la stessa cosa.

Spanish

¿Acaso no han viajado por la tierra y han visto cuál fue el fin de os que existieron antes que ellos? Al-lah los destruyó totalmente, y a los incrédulos les ocurrirá algo similar.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کیا وہ زمین میں نہیں پھرے کہ دیکھتے کہ جو ان سے پہلے گذر چکے ہیں ان کا انجام کیا ہوا۔ اللہ نے ان پر عذاب نازل کیا تھا اور (آج کل کے) کافروں کا بھی انہی جیسا حال ہوگا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[b]Have they not travelled in the earth and seen what was the end of those who were before them?[2745] Allah utterly destroyed them, and for the disbelievers there will be the like thereof.

12:110; 22:47; 30:10; 35:45; 40:22.

As many as fifteen times, the disbelievers of the Holy Prophet have been told in the Qur’an to travel in the earth and see for themselves the sad end to which the disbelievers of former Prophets had come. How can they, the verse warns them, expect to escape a similar fate? Divine punishment will, surely, overtake them in various forms and shapes.

[a]Have they not travelled in the earth and seen what was the end of those who were before them? Allah utterly destroyed them, and for the disbelievers there will be the like thereof.[3796]

Commentary:

As many as fifteen times, the disbelievers of the Holy Prophet have been warned in the Quran to travel in the earth and see the dreadful end to which the disbelievers of former Prophets have come. How can they, the verse warns them, expect to escape a similar fate? The expression أمثالھا shows that Divine punishment will overtake disbelievers in various forms and shapes.

کیا وہ زمین میں چلے پھرے نہ تھے کہ اُن لوگوں کا انجام دیکھتے جو ان سے پہلے گزر چکے ہیں؟ اللہ نے اُن کا سب کچھ اُن پر الٹ دیا، اور ایسے نتائج اِن کافروں کے لیے مقدر ہیں

English - Sahih

Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed [everything] over them, and for the disbelievers is something comparable.

کیا انہوں نے زمین میں سیر نہیں کی وہ دیکھتے ان کا انجام کیسا ہوا جو ان سے پہلے تھے الله نے انہیں ہلاک کر دیا اور منکروں کے لیے ایسی ہی (سزائیں) ہیں

Do not they travel in the earth and see how was (the) end (of) those before them? Allah destroyed [over] them, and for the disbelievers its likeness.

What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? God destroyed them; the unbelievers shall have the likes thereof.

English - Maududi

Have they not journeyed through the land to see the end of those who went before them? Allah utterly destroyed them. These unbelievers are doomed to the same end.

English - Ahmed Ali

Have they not journeyed in the land and seen the fate of those before them? Destroyed they were utterly by God; and a similar (fate) awaits the unbelievers.

English - Yusuf Ali

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the End of those before them (who did evil)? Allah brought utter destruction on them, and similar (fates await) those who reject Allah.
