وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَٰثُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوِى مِنكُم مَّنْ أَنفَقَ مِن قَبْلِ ٱلْفَتْحِ وَقَٰتَلَ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَقَٰتَلُوا۟ ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And why is it that you spend not in the way of Allah, while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Those of you who spent and fought before the Victory are not equal to those who did so later. They are greater in rank than those who spent and fought afterwards. And to all has Allah promised good. And Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور تمہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں خرچ نہیں کرتے جبکہ آسمانوں اور زمین کی میراث اللہ ہی کی ہے؟ تم میں سے کوئی اس کے برابر نہیں ہوسکتا جس نے فتح سے پہلے خرچ کیا اور قِتال کیا۔ یہ لوگ درجے میں ان سے بہت بڑھ کر ہیں جنہوں نے بعد میں خرچ اور قِتال کیا۔ اور ہر ایک سے اللہ نے بہترین (اجر کا) وعدہ کیا ہے اور اللہ اس سے ہمیشہ باخبر رہتا ہے جو تم کرتے ہو۔
French
Qu’avez-vous que vous ne dépensez pas dans la voie d’Allāh alors que c’est à Allāh qu’appartient l’héritage des cieux et de la terre ? Ceux d’entre vous qui ont dépensé et qui ont combattu avant la Victoire ne sont pas égaux. Ceux-là sont supérieurs en rang à ceux qui ont dépensé et qui ont combattu après. Et Allāh a promis à tous ce qui est meilleur comme récompense. Et Allāh est Très-Conscient de ce que vous faites.
German
Was ist euch, dass ihr nicht spendet in Allahs Sache, obwohl die Erbschaft der Himmel und der Erde Allah gehört? Die unter euch, die spendeten und kämpften vor dem Sieg, sind nicht gleich. Sie sind höher an Rang als jene, die erst nachher spendeten und kämpften. Allen aber verhieß Allah Gutes. Und Allah ist wohl kundig dessen, was ihr tut.

你们为什么不在安拉的道上施舍? 天地的遗产都归安拉, 你们在胜利前施舍并参战者[a]与在胜利后施舍并参战者是不同的。前者等级较后者的等级高超。安拉对两种人都允赐优美的报酬。安拉完全洞悉你们的一切作为。

E perché non spendete per la causa di Allah, mentre ad Allah appartiene l'eredità dei cieli e della terra? Quelli tra voi che donarono e combatterono prima della vittoria non sono uguali a quelli che si comportarono così più tardi. Quelli sono di rango superiore a coloro che donarono e combatterono in seguito. E a tutti Allah ha promesso cose buone. E Allah è ben Consapevole di quello che fate.

¿Por qué no gastáis en la causa de Al-lah, si a Al-lah pertenece la herencia de los cielos y la tierra? Aquellos de vosotros que gastaron y ucharon antes de la Victoria no son iguales a los que lo hicieron más tarde. Ocupan una posición más alta que los que gastaron y lucharon después. Mas a todos Al-lah ha prometido bienes. Pues Al-lah conoce muy bien lo que hacéis.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ تم اللہ کے راستہ میں خرچ نہیں کرتے حالانکہ آسمان اور زمین کی میراث[2] اللہ ہی کی ہے اے مومنو! فتح سے پہلے جس نے خدا کی راہ میں خرچ کیا اور اس کی راہ میں جنگ کی وہ اس کے برابر نہیں ہو سکتا جس نے فتح کے بعد خرچ کیا اور فتح کے بعد جنگ کی۔ فتح سے پہلے خرچ کرنے والے اور جنگ کرنے والے درجہ میں بہت زیادہ ہیں اور اللہ نے دونوں قسم کے لوگوں سے نیکی کا وعدہ کیا ہے۔ اور اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے خوب اچھی طرح واقف ہے۔
یعنی اس مادی دنیا میں سے جو کچھ انسان کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔ آخر انسان اُسے چھوڑ کر مر جائے گا اور وہ خدا ہی کے قبضہ میں آئے گی۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
And why is it that you spend not in the way of Allah, while to Allah belongs the heritage[2989] of the heavens and the earth? Those of you who spent and fought before the Victory[2990] are not equal to those who did so later. They are greater in rank than those who spent and fought [c]afterwards. And to all has Allah promised good. And Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.

Commentary:
Man will have to leave behind in this world all his material possessions which in truth belong to God.
الفتح (the Victory) may refer to the Fall of Mecca, soon after which the whole of Arabia submitted to the Holy Prophet, or it may refer to the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah which laid the foundation of the subsequent rapid spread of Islam and of the vast and very quick expansion of the political power of Muslims.

آخر کیا وجہ ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں خرچ نہیں کرتے حالانکہ زمین اور آسمانوں کی میراث اللہ ہی کے لیے ہے تم میں سے جو لوگ فتح کے بعد خرچ اور جہاد کریں گے وہ کبھی اُن لوگوں کے برابر نہیں ہو سکتے جنہوں نے فتح سے پہلے خرچ اور جہاد کیا ہے اُن کا درجہ بعد میں خرچ اور جہاد کرنے والوں سے بڑھ کر ہے اگرچہ اللہ نے دونوں ہی سے اچھے وعدے فرمائے ہیں جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اللہ اس سے با خبر ہے
English - Sahih
And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. And Allah, with what you do, is Acquainted.

اور تمہیں کیا ہوگیا جو الله کی راہ میں خرچ نہیں کرتے حالانکہ آسمانوں اور زمین کا ورثہ تو الله ہی کے لیے ہے تم میں سے اور کوئی اس کے برابر ہو نہیں سکتا جس نے فتح مکہ سے پہلے خرچ کیا اور جہاد کیا یہ ہیں کہ الله کے نزدیک جن کا بڑا درجہ ہے ان لوگو ں پر ہے جنہوں نے بعد میں خرچ کیا اور جہاد کیا اور الله نے ہر ایک سے نیک جزا کا وعدہ کیا ہے اور الله تمہارے کاموں سے خبردار ہے

And what (is) for you that not you spend in (the) way (of) Allah? while for Allah (is the) heritage (of) the heavens and the earth? Not are equal among you (those) who spent before the victory and fought. Those (are) greater (in) degree than those who spent afterwards and fought. But to all, Allah has promised the best. And Allah of what you do (is) All-Aware.

یعنی اس مادی دنیا میں سے جو کچھ انسان کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔ آخر انسان اُسے چھوڑ کر مر جائے گا اور وہ خدا ہی کے قبضہ میں آئے گی۔

How is it with you, that you expend not in the way of God, and to God belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Not equal is he among you who spent, and who fought before the victory; those are mightier in rank than they who spent and fought afterwards; and unto each God has promised the reward most fair; and God is aware of the things you do.
English - Maududi
How is it that you do not expend in the Way of Allah when to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Those who spent their wealth and took part in fighting before the Victory cannot be equated (with those who spent their wealth and took part in fighting afterwards). They are higher in rank than those who spent and fought afterwards. But to each Allah has promised a good reward. Allah is well aware of all that you do.
