They have made their oaths a screen for their misdeeds, and they turn men away from the path of Allah; for them, therefore, will be an humiliating punishment.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
انہوں نے اپنی قسموں کو ڈھال بنا لیا ہے۔ پس انہوں نے اللہ کی راہ سے روک رکھا ہے۔ نتیجۃً ان کے لئے رُسواکن عذاب (مقدر) ہے۔
French
Ils ont fait de leurs serments un bouclier pour leurs méfaits, et ils empêchent les gens de suivre la voie d’Allāh ; il y aura donc pour eux un châtiment humiliant.
German
Sie haben ihre Eide zu einem Schild (für ihre Missetaten) gemacht, und sie machen abwendig vom Pfade Allahs; für sie wird darum eine erniedrigende Strafe sein.

他们把他们的誓言当作他们 (虚假) 的掩护, 他们 (藉此) 阻止 (人们知行) 安拉的道路, 所以他们将遭受耻辱的刑罚。

Hanno fatto dei loro giuramenti uno scudo per le loro malefatte e allontanano gli uomini dal sentiero di Allah. Perciò, ci sarà per loro un castigo umiliante.

Hicieron de sus juramentos una pantalla para sus malas acciones, y apartan a los hombres del camino de Al-lah; tendrán, por tanto, un castigo ignominioso.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
انہوں نے اپنی قسموں کو ڈھال[1] بنایا ہوا ہے اور وہ اللہ کے رستہ سے (ان قسموں کے ذریعہ سے) روکتے ہیں۔ پس ان کو رسوا کن عذاب ملے گا۔
یعنی قسم کھاتے ہیں اور سمجھتے ہیں کہ اب ہماری بات پر ایمان لے آنا چاہیے حالانکہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے قسم اور گواہی الگ الگ امور کے لئے مقرر کی ہوئی ہے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
They have made their oaths a shield[3011] for their falsehoods, and thereby they seek to turn men away from the path of Allah; for them, therefore, will be an humiliating punishment.
The hypocrites protest loudly the sincerity of their faith by swearing and seek to take shelter behind their false oaths.

They have made their oaths a shield for their falsehoods, and thereby they seek to turn men away from the path of Allah; for them, therefore, will be an humiliating punishment.[4185]
Commentary:
The verse means that the hypocrites protest loudly the sincerity of their faith by swearing, and seek to take shelter behind their false oaths.

اُنہوں نے اپنی قسموں کو ڈھال بنا رکھا ہے جس کی آڑ میں وہ اللہ کی راہ سے لوگوں کو روکتے ہیں، اِس پر ان کے لیے ذلت کا عذاب ہے
