7:49

وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَعْرَافِ رِجَالًا يَعْرِفُونَهُم بِسِيمَىٰهُمْ قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنكُمْ جَمْعُكُمْ وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And the occupants of the elevated places will call out to men whom they will know by their marks, and say, “Your multitude availed you not, nor your arrogance.

اور اونچی جگہوں والے ایسے لوگوں سے مخاطب ہوں گے جن کو وہ ان کی علامتوں سے پہچان لیں گے اور کہیں گے تمہاری جمعیت اور جو تم استکبار کیا کرتے تھے تمہارے کام نہ آسکے۔

Et les occupants des Lieux Elevés interpelleront certains hommes qu’ils reconnaîtront à leurs marques et ils diront : « Ni votre multitude ni votre arrogance ne vous ont profité.

Und die in den Höhen werden den Leuten, die sie an ihren Merkmalen erkennen, zurufen (und) sprechen: "Nichts hat euch eure Menge gefruchtet, noch eure Hoffart.

在高处的人从一些 (火狱的) 人面容的征象[496] 认识他们, 将 (对他们) 说: “你们的数量无济于事, 你们 (所恃以) 骄傲自大 (的宣称也没有用处)。

在高处的人, 也就是先知, 从已经送进火狱的人们中会认出某些人的特别征象并将对他们说, 现在他们一定已经认识到他们反对先知的悲惨下场了。

E gli occupanti dei luoghi elevati chiameranno gli uomini che essi conosceranno dai loro aspetti e diranno: «L'essere numerosi non vi è servito, e nemmeno vi è servita la vostra arroganza -

Y los ocupantes de los lugares elevados gritarán a los hombres a quienes conocerán por sus marcas; y dirán: “vuestra muchedumbre no os ha servido de nada, ni tampoco vuestra arrogancia”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور اعراف والے لوگ کچھ (دوزخی) لوگوں کو جنہیں وہ ان کے چہرہ کے نشانوں سے پہچانتے تھے کہیں گے کہ نہ تمہاری تعداد نے تم کو کوئی فائدہ پہنچایا۔ اور نہ ہی (تمہارے ان دعووں نے) جن کی بنا پر تم تکبر کرتے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And the occupants of the Elevated Places will call out to men, whom they will know by their marks,[980] and say, ‘Your numbers availed you not, nor your arrogance.’

The occupants of the Elevated Places, i.e. the Prophets, will call out to certain persons from among the people to whom they had been sent and whom they will recognize by their special marks and will say to them that they must have realized now the sorry end of their opposition to them.

English - Five Volume Translation

And the occupants of the elevated places will call out to men whom they will know by their marks, and say, “Your multitude availed you not, nor your arrogance.[948]

Commentary:

The occupants of the elevated places, i.e. the Prophets, shall call out to certain persons from among the people, to whom they had been sent and whom they will recognize by their marks, telling them to see the end of their opposition.

The particle ما (not) may also be taken in the interrogative sense, meaning "what". In that case the sentence would be rendered as, "of what avail was your multitude to you and your arrogance?" In this sense the sentence would constitute a very pointed rebuke by the Prophets to the dwellers of Hell.

پھر یہ اعراف کے لوگ دوزخ کی چند بڑی بڑی شخصیتوں کو ان کی علامتوں سے پہچان کر پکاریں گے کہ "دیکھ لیا تم نے، آج نہ تمہارے جتھے تمہارے کسی کام آئے اور نہ وہ ساز و سامان جن کو تم بڑی چیز سمجھتے تھے

English - Sahih

And the companions of the Elevations will call to men [within Hell] whom they recognize by their mark, saying, "Of no avail to you was your gathering and [the fact] that you were arrogant."

اور اعراف والے پکاریں گے جنہیں وہ ان کی نشانی سے پہچانتے ہوں گے کہیں گے تمہاری جماعت تمہارے کسی کام نہ آئی اور نہ وہ جو تم تکبر کیا کرتے تھے

English - Talal Itani

And (will) call out (the) companions (of) the heights (to) men whom they recognize by their marks saying, "Not (has) availed [to] you your gathering and what you were arrogant (about)."

在高处的人, 也就是先知, 从已经送进火狱的人们中会认出某些人的特别征象并将对他们说, 现在他们一定已经认识到他们反对先知的悲惨下场了。

And the dwellers on the Battlements shall call to certain men they know by their sign: 'Your amassing has not availed you, neither your waxing proud.

And the people of the Heights will cry out to the men whom they would recognize by their marks. saving: 'Neither your numbers nor the riches of which you were proud availed you.

Recognising them by their marks the men of al-A'raf will call (to the inmates of Hell): "Of what use was your amassing (of wealth) of which you were proud?"
