کَلَّا ۖ بَلۡ ۜ رَانَ عَلٰی قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ مَّا کَانُوۡا یَکۡسِبُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Nay, but that which they have earned has rusted their hearts.

خبردار! حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اُن کے دلوں پر زنگ لگادیا ان کسبوں نے جو وہ کیا کرتے تھے۔

绝不 (像他们所说的那样), 而是他们所做的, 已使他们的心锈蚀。

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

ہرگز (ایسا) نہیں (جیسے وہ کہتے ہیں) بلکہ (اصل بات یہ ہے کہ) ان کے دلوں پر اس نے جو وہ کما چکے ہیں زنگ لگا دیا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts.

English - Five Volume Translation

Nay, but that which they have earned has rusted their hearts.[4631]

Important Words:

ران (has rusted). ران الثوب means, the garment was or became rusty or covered with rust, dust, or filth. ران ھواہ علی قلبه means, his evil desire covered or overcame his heart. رین means, rust that overspreads the sword; dirt, filth or soil (Lane & Aqrab).

ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ دراصل اِن لوگوں کے دلوں پر اِن کے برے اعمال کا زنگ چڑھ گیا ہے

English - Sahih

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

ہر گز نہیں بلکہ ان کے (بڑے) کاموں سے ان کے دلو ں پر زنگ لگ گیا ہے

English - Talal Itani

Nay! But, (the) stain has covered [over] their hearts (for) what they used to earn.

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

English - Arberry

No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts.

English - Maududi

No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds.

English - Ahmed Ali

No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts.

English - Yusuf Ali

By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!
