85:9

وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ

And they hated them not but because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,

اور وہ اُن سے پرخاش نہیں رکھتے مگر اس بنا پر کہ وہ اللہ، کامل غلبہ رکھنے والے، صاحبِ حمد پر ایمان لے آئے۔

Et ils ne les haïssaient que parce qu’ils croyaient en Allāh, le Puissant, le Très-Louable,

Und sie hassten sie aus keinem anderen Grund, als weil sie an Allah glaubten, den Allmächtigen, den Preiswürdigen,

Y sólo se vengaron de ellos porque creían en Al-lah, el Todopoderoso, el Merecedor de Alabanza,

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور وہ ان سے صرف اس لئے دشمنی کرتے تھے کہ وہ غالب (اور) سب تعریفوں کے مالک اللہ پر ایمان کیوں لائے[8]۔

یہ آیت اس دعویٰ کی دلیل ہے جو پہلی آیت میں بیان ہوا ہے۔ یعنی ان کی مخالفت کسی بنیاد پر نہیں ہوتی بلکہ صرف حسد کی وجہ سے ہوتی ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]And they hated them not but only because they believed in Allah,[3313] the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,

7:127.

The verse is full of pathos. Is belief in God really such a heinous crime, it asks, that its holders should be subjected to cruel persecution?

[a]And they hated them not but only because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,[4663]

Commentary:

The verse is full of pathos. The only fault of the believers is that they believe in One, Merciful and Almighty God. Is belief in God really such a heinous crime that its holders should be subjected to cruel persecution? These verses may also refer to the persecution of the early Muslims at Mecca. They had done nothing to excite the enmity of their compatriots except that they had given up worshipping idols of wood and stone and instead had believed in God, the Maker of the heavens and earth.

اور اُن اہل ایمان سے اُن کی دشمنی اِس کے سوا کسی وجہ سے نہ تھی کہ وہ اُس خدا پر ایمان لے آئے تھے جو زبردست اور اپنی ذات میں آپ محمود ہے

And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
