وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِیۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡکِتٰبَ اِلَّا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡہُمُ الۡبَیِّنَۃُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And those to whom the Book was given did not become divided until after clear evidence had come to them.

اور وہ لوگ جنہیں کتاب دی گئی، اُنہوں نے تفرقہ نہیں کیا مگر بعد اس کے کہ اُن کے پاس روشن دلیل آچکی تھی۔

Et ceux à qui le Livre avait été donné ne devinrent divisés qu’après que la preuve évidente leur soit parvenue.

Und die, denen die Schrift gegeben ward, waren nicht gespalten, ehe der deutliche Beweis zu ihnen gekommen war.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور (عجیب بات یہ ہے کہ) جن لوگوں کو (قرآن مجید جیسی مکمل) کتاب دی گئی ہے وہ اس واضح دلیل (یعنی رسول) کے آنے کے بعد ہی (مختلف گروہوں[2] میں) تقسیم ہوئے ہیں۔

یعنی جن اہل کتاب کے زمانہ میں قرآن اترا ہے۔ پہلے تو وہ اپنے جھوٹے قصوں پر خوش تھے لیکن اب وہی لوگ قرآن کے بیان کردہ سچے واقعات کے مقابلہ میں بائبل کے جھوٹے واقعات پیش کرکے اختلاف کرتے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And those to whom the Book was given [c]did not become divided until after clear evidence had come to them.

42:15; 45:18.

English - Five Volume Translation

And those to whom the Book was given did not become divided[a] until after clear evidence had come to them.[4801]

42:15; 45:18.

Commentary:

The verse means to say that the People of the Book had eagerly awaited the coming of a great Prophet about whom clear prophecies were found in their scriptures, but when he appeared in fact, then instead of accepting him they rejected him.

پہلے جن لوگوں کو کتاب دی گئی تھی اُن میں تفرقہ برپا نہیں ہوا مگر اِس کے بعد کہ اُن کے پاس (راہ راست) کا بیان واضح آ چکا تھا

Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.

اور اہلِ کتاب نے جو اختلاف کیا تو واضح دلیل آنے کے بعد
