98:6

وَمَاۤ اُمِرُوۡۤا اِلَّا لِیَعۡبُدُوا اللّٰہَ مُخۡلِصِیۡنَ لَہُ الدِّیۡنَ حُنَفَآءَ وَیُقِیۡمُوا الصَّلٰوۃَ وَیُؤۡتُوا الزَّکٰوۃَ ۚ وَذٰلِکَ دِیۡنُ الۡقَیِّمَۃِ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And they were not commanded but to serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, and being upright, and to observe Prayer, and pay the Zakat. And that is the religion of the people of the right path.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور وہ کوئی حکم نہیں دیئے گئے سوائے اس کے کہ وہ اللہ کی عبادت کریں، دین کو اُس کے لئے خالص کرتے ہوئے، ہمیشہ اس کی طرف جھکتے ہوئے، اور نماز کو قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃ دیں۔ اور یہی قائم رہنے والی اور قائم رکھنے والی تعلیمات کا دین ہے۔

French

Et ils ne reçurent que le commandement d’adorer Allāh, en étant sincères envers Lui en obéissance et en étant intègres, et d’observer la Prière, et de payer la Zakāt. Et c’est là la religion qui contient les enseignements qui sont durables.

German

Und doch war ihnen nichts anderes befohlen, als Allah zu dienen, in lauterem Gehorsam gegen Ihn und aufrechtem Glauben, und das Gebet zu verrichten und die Zakât zu zahlen. Und das ist der beständige Glaube.

Chinese

其实, 他们只奉命以笃信安拉的宗教的精神、[d]正直地崇拜安拉, 固守拜功, 交纳天课, 这就是永存的宗教。[1751]

40:15.

دِيْن (Din)的意思是: 服从; 指挥; 命令; 计划; 正道; 习惯或风俗; 行为或品行 (Lane)。

Italian

Ed era stato loro ordinato soltanto di servire Allah, e di esserGli sinceramente obbedienti e di essere giusti, di osservare la preghiera e pagare lo Zakat. E questa è la religione del popolo del retto cammino.

Spanish

Y no se les ordenó más que servir a Al‑lah, ser sincero con El en bediencia, ser rectos, cumplir la Oración y pagar el Zakat. Esa es la religión del pueblo del camino recto.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

حالانکہ انہیں یہی حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ وہ صرف ایک خدا کی عبادت کریں اور عبادت کو صرف اس کے لئے مخصوص کر دیں (اس حالت میں کہ) وہ اپنے نیک میلانوں میں ثابت قدم رہنے والے ہوں اور (پھر صرف اس بات کا حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ) نماز باجماعت ادا کرتے رہیں اور زکٰوۃ دیں اور یہی (ہمیشہ صداقت پر) قائم رہنے والا دین [3]ہے۔

عربی میں کبھی ضمیر بالمعنٰے پھیری جاتی ہے۔ اس جگہ دِیْنٌ کا لفظ ہے جس کے ایک معنے طَرِیْقَۃٌ کے ہیں۔ پس طَرِیْقَۃٌ کے معنوں کو مدنظر رکھ کر قرآن مجیدنے اس کی صفت قَیِّمَۃٌ بیان کر دی ہے جو مؤنث ہے اور جس کے مقام کے لحاظ سے ہم نے معنے کر دیئے ہیں۔ جو نہایت صاف اور سیدھے معنی ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And they were not commanded but to serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, [d]and being upright, and to observe Prayer and pay the Zakat. And that is the right religion.[3400A]

40:15.

Din means, obedience; mastery; command; plan; righteousness; habit or custom; behaviour or conduct (Lane).

English - Five Volume Translation

And they were not commanded but to serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience,[b] and being upright, and to observe Prayer, and pay the Zakah. And that is the right religion.[4802]

Commentary:

دین (religion) means obedience; mastery; command; plan; righteousness; habit or custom; behaviour or conduct (Lane & Aqrab). The verse may signify:

(1) They should have rendered full and sincere obedience to Divine commandments.

(2) When they got mastery or ascendancy, they should have devoted all their power and prestige to obtaining God’s pleasure.

(3) All their plans should have been directed towards the achievement of the one supreme object—pleasure of God.

(4) Their fear of God and love for Him should have been completely sincere and honest.

(5) They should have imbibed Divine attributes; and all their friendships and enmities should have been for the sake of God.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اور اُن کو اِس کے سوا کوئی علم نہیں دیا گیا تھا کہ اللہ کی بندگی کریں اپنے دین کو اُس کے لیے خالص کر کے، بالکل یکسو ہو کر، اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃ دیں یہی نہایت صحیح و درست دین ہے

English - Sahih

And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور انہیں صرف یہی حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ الله کی عبادت کریں ایک رخ ہو کر خالص اسی کی اطاعت کی نیت سے اورنماز قائم کریں اور زکواة دیں اور یہی محکم دین ہے

English - Talal Itani

And not they were commanded except to worship Allah (being) sincere to Him (in) the religion, upright, and to establish the prayer, and to give the zakah And that (is the) religion the correct.

English - Arberry

They were commanded only to serve God, making the religion His sincerely, men of pure faith, and to perform the prayer, and pay the alms -- that is the religion of the True.

English - Maududi

Yet all that they had been commanded was that they serve Allah, with utter sincerity, devoting themselves exclusively to Him, and that they establish Prayer and pay Zakah. That is the Right Faith.

English - Ahmed Ali

They were commanded only to serve God with all-exclusive faith in Him, to be upright, and to fulfil their devotional obligations, and to give zakat; for this is the even way.

And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight.
