قرآن مجید میں نَسْلُکُہٗ کے الفاظ ہیں جس کے معنے لغت میں یہ لکھے ہیں کہ جس طرح ہاتھ جیب میں چلا جاتا ہے اسی طرح کسی چیز کو دوسری چیز میں داخل کرنا سلوک کہلاتا ہے (اقرب) لیکن چونکہ اس کا اصل مفہوم یہی ہے کہ اس طرح داخل کرتے ہیں کہ وہ آسانی سے اندر چلا جاتا ہے اور اپنی جگہ بنا لیتا ہے ہم نے ترجمہ میں ’’راسخ کرتے ہیں‘‘ لکھا ہے۔ کیونکہ اس لفظ کے بھی یہی معنے ہیں۔

Commentary:
The pronoun "this" in the expression نسلکه (do We cause this to enter) refers to the practice of disbelievers of ridiculing Prophets mentioned in the previous verse. The verse under comment thus signifies that this evil habit of disbelievers springs from their own indulgence in sin and is not imported from outside. It states a general truth, viz. when a man does wrong, his natural aversion for sin is lessened and he gradually develops a liking for it which eventually takes deep root in his heart. It thus follows that the retribution of sin is not the result of some arbitrary action on the part of God but is the natural and inevitable consequence of the sinner’s own action.

Commentary:
"Night" in Quranic terminology represents the period during which no fresh revelation descends from heaven, and "day" represents the time when a Divine Reformer is present in the world. The verse points to the law of the alternation of day and night and from it draws the moral that as in the physical world day follows night, similarly in the spiritual realm when darkness enshrouds the world, a Divine Reformer is raised to dispel it, and, then, again, after the lapse of a long time, spiritual light disappears, and there is darkness all round. The phenomenon continues uninterruptedly in both the spiritual and physical worlds.
