ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
It is Allah Who has made the night for you that you may rest therein, and the day to enable you to see. Verily, Allah is the Lord of bounty for mankind, yet most men are ungrateful.

اللہ وہ ہے جس نے تمہارے لئے رات کو بنایا تاکہ تم اس میں تسکین پاؤ اور دن کو دکھانے والا بنایا۔ یقیناً اللہ لوگوں پر بہت فضل کرنے والا ہے لیکن اکثر انسان شکر نہیں کرتے۔

Commentary:
Night is the time of rest and day that of work. In the life of a people, however, "night" represents the period of moral stagnation when they remain in a state of spiritual torpor, while "day" represents the time when a Divine Reformer has made his appearance among them. Thus the people of the Holy Prophet are told that with the rising of the spiritual Sun—the Holy Prophet—the time of their ignorance and torpor has passed. They should, therefore, shake off their lethargy and languor and, making use of its light, should bring about a change in their condition.

Commentary:
Night is the time of rest and day that of work. Commentary:
In continuation of the theme of the preceding verse, the present verse purports to say that when God has created all the things wanted by men to satisfy their physical needs and requirements, He could not have neglected to make similar provision for their spiritual needs. In order to satisfy their spiritual needs, He has sent the Holy Prophet. They should therefore accept him and be not turned away from God.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
وہ زندہ (اور دوسروں کو زندگی دینے والا) ہے۔ اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں‘ اور اللہ کے لئے عبادت[1] کو خالص کرتے ہوئے اس کو پکارو‘ سب تعریف اللہ ہی کی ہے جو سب جہانوں کا رب ہے۔
عربی کے الفاظ کے لحاظ سے یہاں ضمیر استعمال ہونی چاہیے مگر چونکہ پہلے اللہ کا ذکر گذر چکا ہے اور اردو میں مضمون واضح نہیں ہوتا ہم نے اس جگہ اللہ کا لفظ کھول کر لکھ دیا ہے اور اس کے بعد ضمیر ہی رہنے دی ہے یہ صرف عربی اور اردو کے طریق بیان کا فرق ہے۔

Commentary:
The verse means to say that when God is the sole Creator of heavens and earth and it is He Who has created man and has made full provision for all his physical and spiritual needs, it is inconsistent with reason and highly presumptuous on the part of man to worship any being or thing in preference to Him, "the Lord of all the worlds."
