أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ
Important Words:
شرح (opened). شرح المسألة means, he explained the question. شرح الکلام means, he understood the talk. شرح الشیء means, he guarded the thing, he preserved it شرح صدرہ للشیء means, he was pleased with the thing. The breast symbolically being the seat of knowledge and feelings, its expansion (in the present context) signifies its illumination with wisdom, divine light and peace and its vastness for the reception of what was to be revealed to the Holy Prophet (Lane, Aqrab & Muhit).
Commentary:
In view of different meanings of the word شرح, the verse may have one or all of the following interpretations: (1) God had protected the heart of the Holy Prophet from all harmful influences. It was impossible for evil to enter it. (2) God was the Prophet’s own Preceptor and Teacher and besides temporal knowledge He had opened his breast to comprehend the divine mysteries. (3) The Prophet never suffered from straitness of the heart and was endowed with patience and fortitude to such a degree that even the hardest tribulation could not disturb his peace of mind.

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ
ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ
穆圣背负起瘁心劳身的重任, 这是任何人都未曾担当过的, 首先是使一个堕落的宗族从道德沦丧的深渊上升到精神美德的顶峰, 然后通过他们涤除全人类的罪恶、无知和妄念等渣滓。这确是一个非凡的重托, 这重托几乎将他压垮了, 但安拉却减轻了他的负荷。
یعنی شریعتِ کامل تجھ پر اتار دی ہے تا کہ خدا کی ہدایت کی روشنی میں چلے اور حیران نہ ہو۔
آپ اسی گھبراہٹ میں غارِ حرا میں جاتے تھے کہ میں اپنی عقل سے خداتعالیٰ کو پانے اور قوم کی اصلاح میں کس طرح کامیاب ہو سکوں گا۔ خداتعالیٰ نے اپنی خاص ہدایت یعنی قرآن مجید کے ذریعہ گھبراہٹ کو دُور کر دیا جیسے کہ سورۃ علق میں تفصیل آتی ہے۔
The Holy Prophet had been saddled with such nerve-racking and backbreaking task as had never been entrusted to any human being, i.e. first to raise a degenerate people from the depths of moral turpitude to the pinnacle of spiritual excellence and, then through them to cleanse and purify the whole of mankind of the dross of iniquity, ignorance and superstition. This was indeed, a very heavy responsibility which had almost crushed him under its weight, but God lightened his burden.

The Holy Prophet had been saddled with such a nerve-racking and back-breaking task as had never been entrusted to a human being, i.e. first to raise a degenerate people from the depths of moral turpitude to the peaks of spiritual excellence and, then through them to cleanse and purify the whole of mankind of the dross of iniquity, ignorance and superstition. This was indeed a very heavy responsibility which had almost crushed the Prophet under its weight, but God lightened his burden in that He gave him devoted and sincere Companions who shared his burden and helped him in the discharge of his manifold and hard duties.

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
“的确, 艰难之后有容易”, 一语重复过两次。这表示伊斯兰教将必须经过异常艰难的时代, 它面临着两次存亡的挑战--------第一次是在它诞生后的头几年, 接着是在过后日子里的--------两次都以重生的力量通过了考验。这几节经文也表示, 穆圣和穆斯林所面临的困难只是暂时的, 而他们的成就是永恒的, 不断扩大的。
The expression, 'Surely, there is ease after hardship,' has been repeated twice. This signifies that Islam will have to pass through very hard times, but on two occasions it will have to face a challenge to its very existence—first in the first few years of its life and then in the Latter Days— and on both these occasions it will emerge from the ordeal with renewed strength. These verses also indicate that the hardships with which the Holy Prophet and Muslims are faced are temporary, but their successes will be permanent and ever-expanding.

Commentary:
The verse holds a message of hope and good cheer for the Holy Prophet. He is comforted with the assurance that whenever Islam would be in difficulty, God would raise a Reformer from among his followers who would restore to it its former glory and greatness. Pointing out the fact that one has to face difficulties and hardships in this life, the Prophet is assured that his tribulation would prove to be of short duration and would soon be followed by increasing ease, success and prosperity.

یُسْر یعنی کامیابی کا لفظ نکرہ بیان کیا ہے اور اس طرف اشارہ کیا ہے کہ وہ باربار آئے گی مگر عُسْر یعنی تنگی کو معرفہ بیان کیا ہے یعنی وہ ایک مقررہ وقت تک رہ کر ہٹ جائے گی۔ اس آیت میں یہ پیشگوئی کی گئی ہے کہ رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر کوئی تکلیف ایسی نہیں آئے گی جو دائمی کہلا سکے۔ لیکن آرام کی گھڑیاں ایسی آئیں گی جو دائمی کہلا سکیں گی۔ چنانچہ مکّہ اور عرب کے لوگ آٹھ سال کے عرصہ میں تباہ ہو گئے‘ لیکن رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جب مکّہ فتح کیا اور اسلامی حکومت کی بنیاد پڑی اور مسلمانوں کے لئے آسانی کا راستہ کھلا‘ تو یہ حکومت مختلف شکلوں میں بدلتی ہوئی چ

یعنی جب بھی اُمورِ مملکت اور تعلیمِ مسلمانان سے فارغ ہو تو سیرِ روحانی میں لگ جا کیونکہ تیرا وہ غیر متناہی سفر ہے اور اس سے فارغ ہونے کا کوئی سوال ہی نہیں۔

یعنی جب بھی اُمورِ مملکت اور تعلیمِ مسلمانان سے فارغ ہو تو سیرِ روحانی میں لگ جا کیونکہ تیرا وہ غیر متناہی سفر ہے اور اس سے فارغ ہونے کا کوئی سوال ہی نہیں۔

The Holy Prophet is comforted with the assurance that endless vistas of spiritual progress lie before him and that after he has conquered the difficulties that bar his way he should not rest contented with the success achieved, but having scaled one peak he should strive to climb the next, and his attention should be wholly directed towards regenerating a fallen humanity and towards establishing God’s Kingdom on earth. The verse may also signify that when the Holy Prophet has finished his day’s work of teaching and training his followers and disposing of other temporal affairs he should turn to God with all his heart, for his spiritual journey knows no end.
