اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور جب ابراہیم نے کہا کہ اے میرے ربّ! اس کو ایک پُرامن اور امن دینے والا شہر بنا دے اور اس کے بسنے والوں کو جو اُن میں سے اللہ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان لائے ہر قسم کے پھلوں میں سے رزق عطا کر ۔ اس نے کہا کہ جو کفر کرے گا اسے بھی میں کچھ عارضی فائدہ پہنچاؤں گا۔ پھر میں اُسے آگ کے عذاب کی طرف جانے پر مجبور کردوں گا اور (وہ) بہت ہی برا ٹھکانا ہے۔

Et souvenez-vous quand Abraham dit : « Mon Seigneur, fais de ce lieu une ville de paix, et accorde des fruits en guise de provision à ceux de ses habitants qui croient en Allāh et au Jour Dernier. » Allāh répondit : « Quant à celui qui ne croit pas, Je lui accorderai pendant quelque temps des bienfaits ; ensuite, Je l’astreindrai au châtiment du Feu – et quelle mauvaise destination ! »

Und (denket daran) als Abraham sprach: "Mein Herr, mache dies zu einer Stadt des Friedens und versorge mit Früchten die unter ihren Bewohnern, die an Allah und den Jüngsten Tag glauben", da sprach Er: "Und auch dem, der nicht glaubt, will Ich einstweilen Wohltaten erweisen; dann will Ich ihn in die Pein des Feuers treiben, und das ist eine üble Bestimmung."

Y acordaos de cuando Abraham dijo: “Mi Señor, convierte a ésta en ciudad de paz y proporciona frutos a aquellos de sus habitantes que crean en Al-lah y en el Último Día”. Él dijo: “e incluso a quien no crea le concederé también mis beneficios durante algún tiempo; luego le empujaré al castigo del Fuego, ¡un destino desdichado!”.

اور (اس وقت کو بھی یاد کرو) جب ابراہیم نے کہا تھا کہ اے میرے رب اس (جگہ) کو ایک پرامن شہر بنا دے اور اس کے باشندوں میں سے جو بھی اللہ پر اور آنے والے دن پر ایمان لائیں انہیں (ہر قسم کے) پھل عطا فرما (اس پر اللہ نے) فرمایا اور جو شخص کفر کرے اسے (بھی) میں تھوڑی مدت تک فائدہ پہنچاؤں گا۔ پھر اسے مجبور کرکے دوزخ کے عذاب کی طرف لے جاؤں گا۔ اور (یہ) بہت برا انجام ہے۔

Important Words:

مصیر (destination) is derived from صار meaning, he returned, or he became. مصیر is thus a place or condition to which a person or thing comes or returns; a destination (Aqrab).

Commentary:

When Abraham offered the prayer, there was no town existing near the Ka‘bah. There existed only the House of God. So Abraham prayed that in that wildest of wildernesses there might grow up a town, and that that town might become a place of security, affording peace to mankind. In fulfilment of this prayer, there grew up the town of Mecca which has remained a place of peace and security for thousands of years. The prayer also implied that the Baitullah, would be the means of bringing peace and security to mankind. This was destined to come about in two ways: Firstly, those who accepted and followed Islam were to become secure from all evils and to become recipients of God’s blessings. Secondly, Islam was to be the means of bringing about peace and concord among the different nations of the world.

While praying to God to grant sustenance to the dwellers of Mecca, Abraham restricted his prayer only to its good and righteous dwellers. The reason for this was that when Abraham had previously prayed to God to raise Reformers and Religious Leaders from his progeny, God had replied that such men would be raised from among the righteous only (2:125). So when he prayed a second time to God to grant sustenance to the people of Mecca, he was more careful and confined his prayer to the righteous only. This shows how submissive and careful God’s Prophets are. But Abraham had now evidently become overly cautious, for this time God answered, saying, that He would grant sustenance to all men, irrespective of whether they were righteous or not, because He was the Provider for the whole universe, not for the righteous only. The wicked, however, shall be duly punished for their crimes.

Another reason why Abraham restricted his prayer to the righteous was that he wished Mecca to be the abode of the righteous alone; but God knew that even that sacred town was not going to remain untarnished throughout the long centuries of history.

اور یہ کہ ابراہیمؑ نے دعا کی: "اے میرے رب، اس شہر کو امن کا شہر بنا دے، اور اس کے باشندوں میں جو اللہ اور آخرت کو مانیں، انہیں ہر قسم کے پھلو ں کا رزق دے" جواب میں اس کے رب نے فرمایا: "اور جو نہ مانے گا، دنیا کی چند روزہ زندگی کا سامان تومیں اُسے بھی دوں گا مگر آخرکار اُسے عذاب جہنم کی طرف گھسیٹوں گا، اور وہ بد ترین ٹھکانا ہے"

And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [Allah] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination."
