وہ لوگوں کو اس طرح اکھیڑ پھینکتی تھی۔ گویا وہ کھجور کے ایسے تنے ہیں جن کے اندر کا گودا کھایا ہوا تھا۔

سَخَّرَہَا عَلَیۡہِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَیَالٍ وَّثَمٰنِیَۃَ اَیَّامٍ حُسُوۡمًا فَتَرَی الۡقَوۡمَ فِیۡہَا صَرۡعٰی کَاَنَّہُمۡ اَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِیَۃٍ

Which He caused to blow against them for seven nights and eight days consecutively, so that thou mightest have seen the people therein lying prostrate, as though they were trunks of palm-trees fallen down.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اس نے اُسے اُن پر مسخر کئے رکھا سات راتوں اور آٹھ دن تک اس حال میں کہ وہ اُنہیں جڑوں سے اکھیڑ کر پھینک رہی تھی۔ پس قوم کو تُو اُس میں پچھاڑ کھاکر گرا ہوا دیکھتا ہے جیسے وہ کھجور کے گرے ہوئے درختوں کے تنے ہوں۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اس (اللہ) نے ہوا کو متواتر سات راتیں اور آٹھ دن ان کی تباہی کے لئے مقرر کر چھوڑا تھا۔ پس (اے دیکھنے والے) تو اس قوم کو ایک کٹی ہوئی گری پڑی حالت میں پائے گا۔ گویا کہ وہ کھجور کے ایک کھوکھلے درخت کی جڑیں[1] ہیں جن کو تیز آندھی نے گرا کر رکھ دیا۔

اَعْجَازُ النَّخْلِ کے معنے ہیں اُصُوْلُھَا۔ کھجور کے درخت کی جڑیں (اقرب)

Important Words:

حسوما (continuously) is derived from حسم. They say حسمه i.e. he cut it off entirely. حسمھم means, he caused them to perish completely. حسم فی العمل means, he laboured hard and wearied himself with continuous work. حسمت الدابة means, I cauterized the beast by successive operations. الایام الحسوم means, evil or unlucky days that are consecutive or permanent, or days preventing good or prosperity; disastrous days (Lane & Aqrab).

صرعٰی (lying prostrate) is the plural of صریع which is derived from صرع. They say صرعه he threw him down on the ground. صریع means, thrown down or prostrated in the ground; affected with epilepsy or madness; slain. One would say رأیت شجرھم صرعٰی i.e. I saw their trees cut down (Lane & Aqrab).

اللہ تعالیٰ نے اُس کو مسلسل سات رات اور آٹھ دن اُن پر مسلط رکھا (تم وہاں ہوتے تو) دیکھتے کہ وہ وہاں اِس طرح پچھڑے پڑے ہیں جیسے وہ کھجور کے بوسیدہ تنے ہوں
