وَلَوۡ اَنَّہُمۡ رَضُوۡا مَاۤ اٰتٰٮہُمُ اللّٰہُ وَرَسُوۡلُہٗ وَقَالُوۡا حَسۡبُنَا اللّٰہُ سَیُؤۡتِیۡنَا اللّٰہُ مِنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ وَرَسُوۡلُہٗۤ اِنَّاۤ اِلَی اللّٰہِ رٰغِبُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Had they but been content with what Allah and His Messenger had given them and said, ‘Sufficient for us is Allah; Allah will give us of His bounty, and so will His Messenger; to Allah do we turn in supplication,’ it would have been better for them.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور کاش وہ اس پر راضی ہو جاتے جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے انہیں عطا کیا اور کہتے کہ اللہ ہمیں کافی ہے (اور) اللہ ضرور ہمیں اپنے فضل سے (بہت کچھ) عطا کرے گا اور اس کا رسول بھی، یقیناً ہم اللہ ہی کی طرف دِلی چاہت سے مائل ہیں۔
French
. Si au moins ils s’étaient contentés de ce qu’Allāh et Son Messager leur avaient accordé et avaient dit : « Allāh, de même que Son Messager, nous suffit ; assurément Allāh nous accordera de Sa munificence ; c’est vers Allāh que nous nous tournons mûs d’un désir ardent, » cela aurait mieux valu pour eux.

Wären sie mit dem zufrieden gewesen, was Allah und Sein Gesandter ihnen gegeben, und hätten sie nur gesagt: "Unsere Genüge ist Allah: Allah wird uns geben aus Seiner Fülle, und ebenso Sein Gesandter. Zu Allah kehren wir uns als Bittende!"

Si hubiesen estado satisfechos con lo que Al-lah y Su Mensajero les dieron y dijeran: “Para nosotros nos basta con Al-lah y Su Mensajero; ciertamente Al-lah nos dará de Su magnanimidad; a Al-lah nos dirigimos suplicantes”, habría sido mejor para ellos.

اور اگر وہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی عطا پر خوش ہو جاتے اور یہ کہتے کہ اللہ ہی ہمارے لئے کافی ہے (اگر ہمیں تنگی ہوگی تو) اللہ اپنے فضل سے ہمیں دے گا اور (اسی طرح) اس کا رسول بھی۔ ہم تو اپنے اللہ کی طرف جھکنے والے ہیں (تو یہ ان کے لئے بہتر ہوتا)

کیا اچھا ہوتا کہ اللہ اور رسولؐ نے جو کچھ بھی انہیں دیا تھا اس پر وہ راضی رہتے اور کہتے کہ "اللہ ہمارے لیے کافی ہے، وہ اپنے فضل سے ہمیں بہت کچھ دے گا اور اس کا رسول بھی ہم پر عنایت فرمائے گا، ہم اللہ ہی کی طرف نظر جمائے ہوئے ہیں"

If only they had been satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allah; Allah will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allah," [it would have been better for them].

اور کیا اچھا ہوتا اگر وہ اس پر راضی ہو جاتے جو انہیں الله اور اس کے رسول نے دیا ہے اور کہتے ہیں ہمیں الله کافی ہے وہ ہمیں اپنے فضل سے دے گا اور اس کا رسول ہم الله ہی کی طرف رغبت کرنے والے ہیں

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس *
English - Arberry
O were they well-pleased with what God and His Messenger have brought them, saying, 'Enough for us is God; God will bring us of His bounty, and His Messenger; to God we humbly turn.'

Would that they were content with what Allah and His Messenger gave them, and were to say: "Allah suffices for us, and Allah will give us out of His bounty and so will His Messenger. It is to Allah alone that we turn with hope."

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
قریب [2]ہے کہ (اگر ہم توبہ کر لیں تو) ہمارا رب اس سے بہتر (باغ) ہم کو دے دے ہم ضرور اپنے رب کی طرف جھکیں گے۔
یعنی انجام دیکھ کر مکہ کے کچھ لوگ تائب ہو جائیں گے۔ چنانچہ ایسا ہی ہوا اور ان کو انعام بھی ملے۔

Commentary:
The parable of the owners of the "garden" may apply also to the leaders of the Quraish who had made life very miserable for the poor Muslims. They were sternly warned that all their designs against Islam would come to nought and all their efforts would prove abortive and they would be deprived of all their gardens and "fruit." But those who turn to God with true repentance would be rewarded many times more than what they will lose.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
بعید نہیں کہ ہمارا رب ہمیں بدلے میں اِس سے بہتر باغ عطا فرمائے، ہم اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کرتے ہیں"

Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."

شاید ہمارا رب ہمارے لیے اس سے بہتر باغ بدل دے بے شک ہم اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کرنے والے ہیں

Commentary:
