And We shall remove whatever rancour may be in their hearts. Beneath them shall flow rivers. And they shall say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah Who has guided us to this. And we could not have found guidance, if Allah had not guided us. The Messengers of our Lord did indeed bring the truth.’ And it shall be proclaimed unto them: ‘This is the Heaven which you have been given for an inheritance as a reward for what you used to do.’

اور ہم اُن کے سینوں سے کینے کھینچ نکالیں گے۔ اُن کے زیرتصرف نہریں بہتی ہوں گی۔ اور وہ کہیں گے کہ تمام حمد اللہ ہی کے لئے ہے جس نے ہمیں یہاں پہنچنے کی راہ دکھائی جبکہ ہم کبھی ہدایت نہ پاسکتے تھے اگر اللہ ہمیں ہدایت نہ دیتا۔ یقیناً ہمارے پاس ہمارے ربّ کے رسول حق کے ساتھ آئے تھے۔ اور انہیں آواز دی جائے گی کہ یہ وہ جنت ہے جس کا تمہیں وارث ٹھہرایا گیا ہے بسبب اُس کے جو تم عمل کرتے تھے۔

French

Et Nous ôterons toute rancœur qu’ils pourraient avoir au cœur. Sous eux couleront des ruisseaux. Et ils diront : « Louange à Allāh, Qui nous a guidés vers ce Paradis. Et si Allāh ne nous avait pas guidés, nous n’aurions pas été guidés. Les Messagers de notre Seigneur ont assurément apporté la Vérité. » Et on leur proclamera : « Voici le Paradis qui vous a été donné en héritage, en récompense de ce que vous avait fait. »

German

Und Wir wollen alles hinwegräumen, was an Groll in ihren Herzen sein mag. Unter ihnen sollen Ströme fließen. Und sie werden sprechen: "Aller Preis gehört Allah, Der uns zu diesem geleitet hat! Wir hätten nicht den Weg zu finden vermocht, hätte Allah uns nicht geleitet. Die Gesandten unseres Herrn haben in der Tat die Wahrheit gebracht." Und es soll ihnen zugerufen werden: "Das ist der Himmel, der euch zum Erbe gegeben ward für das, was ihr gewirkt."

我将[c]排除他们胸中的积怨,[493] [d]在他们那里河水长流。他们将说: [e]“只有安拉才是值得一切赞扬的, 他指示我们这个 (天园的) 道路。假如安拉不指示我们道路, 我们永远不会获得它。我们养主的使者确已给我们带来了真理。” 他们将听到高声的宣言: “这就是你们由于自己的行为而继承的天园。”

E Noi elimineremo ogni traccia di rancore che possa essere nei loro cuori. Sotto di essi scorreranno fiumi, ed essi diranno: «Ogni lode appartiene ad Allah, che ci ha guidato a questo e non avremmo potuto trovare la strada se Allah non ci avesse guidato. E i messaggeri del nostro Signore ci portarono la verità.» E sarà loro annunziato: «Questo è il Paradiso che vi è stato dato in eredità, a ricompensa delle vostre azioni.»

Retiraremos cualquier rencor que pueda haber en sus corazones. Por debajo de ellos correrán ríos. Y dirán: “toda alabanza corresponde a Al-lah quien nos ha guiado hasta aquí. Y no hubiéramos encontrado guía si Al-lah no nos hubiera encaminado. Los Mensajeros de Nuestro Señor trajeron verdaderamente la verdad”. Y se les proclamará: éste es el Cielo que se os ha dado por herencia como recompensa de lo que hicisteis”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ہم ان جنتیوں کے سینے میں سے (ایک دوسرے کے متعلق) سب کدورت نکال پھینکیں گے اور نہریں ان کے قبضہ اور تصرف میں بہتی[2] ہوں گی اور وہ کہیں گے سب تعریف کا اللہ ہی مستحق ہے جس نے ہم کو اس (بہشت) کا راستہ دکھایا اور اگر اللہ ہمیں اس کا راستہ نہ دکھاتا تو ہم کبھی بھی (اس کا) راستہ نہیں پا سکتے تھے۔ ہمارے رب کے رسول یقیناً سچ لیکر ہمارے پاس آئے تھے اور انہیں بلند آواز سے کہدیا جائے گا کہ یہ وہ جنت ہے جس کا تمہیں تمہارے اعمال کی وجہ سے وارث کیا گیا ہے۔

ان کے دلوں میں ایک دوسرے کے خلاف جو کچھ کدورت ہوگی اسے ہم نکال دیں گے اُن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہونگی، اور وہ کہیں گے کہ "تعریف خدا ہی کے لیے ہے جس نے ہمیں یہ راستہ دکھایا، ہم خود راہ نہ پا سکتے تھے اگر خدا ہماری رہنمائی نہ کرتا، ہمارے رب کے بھیجے ہوئے رسول واقعی حق ہی لے کر آئے تھے" اُس وقت ندا آئے گی کہ "یہ جنت جس کے تم وارث بنائے گئے ہو تمہیں اُن اعمال کے بدلے میں ملی ہے جو تم کرتے رہے تھے"

English - Sahih

And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers. And they will say, "Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth." And they will be called, "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do."

اور جوکچھ ان کے دلو ں میں خفگی ہو گی ہم اسے دور کردیں گے ان کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں گی اور وہ کہیں گےکہ الله کاشکر ہے جس نے ہمیں یہاں تک پہنچایا اور ہم راہ نہ پاتے اگر الله ہماری رہنمائی نہ فرماتا بے شک ہمارے رب کے رسول سچی بات لائے تھے جور آواز آئے گی کہ یہ جنت ہے تم اپنے اعمال کے بدلے اس کے وارث ہو گئے ہو

And We will remove whatever (is) in their breasts of malice. Flows from underneath them the rivers. And they will say, "All the praise (is) for Allah, the One Who guided us to this, and not we were to receive guidance if not [that] (had) guided us Allah. Certainly, came Messengers (of) our Lord with the truth." And they will be addressed, [that] "This (is) Paradise, you have been made to inherit it for what you used to do."

We shall strip away all rancour that is in their breasts; and underneath them rivers flowing; and they will say, 'Praise belongs to God, who guided us unto this; had God not guided us, we had surely never been guided. Indeed, our Lord's Messengers came with the truth.' And it will be proclaimed: 'This is your Paradise; you have been given it as your inheritance for what you did.'

Whatever the rancour they may have in their hearts We shall (cleanse and) remove. Streams of running water shall ripple at their feet, and they will say: "We are grateful to God for guiding us here. Never would we have been guided if God had not shown us the way. The apostles of our Lord had indeed brought the truth." And the cry shall resound: "This is Paradise you have inherited as meed for your deeds."

And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)."

Important Words:

غل (rancour) is from the verb غل which means, it entered (into a thing) or it caused to enter. Thus it is both transitive and intransitive. غل also means, it entered and became mixed up or confused with a thing. غل فلان کذا means, such a one took that thing secretly and concealed it. غل بصرہ means, his eye-sight deviated from the right course. غل الرجل means, the man acted unfaithfully and dishonestly. غل means, rancour or latent rancour; malevolence; malice; spite; enmity; insincerity and dishonesty (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

The freedom of the heart from feelings of rancour and malice is indeed one of the great blessings of Heaven promised to the believers; and as true heavenly life should begin in this very world, a Muslim should always try to purge his heart of such feelings as are nothing but a source of disquiet for one who is a prey to them.

The question implied in the words, we could not have found guidance, if Allah had not guided us, is answered in the words that follow which may be expanded thus: "If Allah had not sent His Messengers, we could not have been rightly guided; for it was not possible for us to devise a Law for ourselves and without a Law we could not perform good works. Law is, therefore, not a curse but a blessing, for it enables us to reach Heaven."

The word تلکم (this) in the clause, This is the Heaven, is used to point to a thing. Heaven is here pointed out to believers, as they have not yet entered it. But they have at the same time been declared to be "the inmates of Heaven," because they have already earned it by their good works. Moreover, true heavenly life begins in this very world, although the full manifestation thereof will be in the next. See 2:26 & 55:47.

In fact, heavenly life begins in this very world (55:47) and he is said to be enjoying it whose heart is free from enmity, jealousy, rancour and mental disquiet.
